Maxim Cherepnin although using medium pips on the back hand is a good example of a player who has gone with short pips over inverted on his forehand.

FH Spinlord Waran 2.0mm
BH Spinlord Gipfelsturm 1.8mm
Offensive balsa carbon blade

Lots of Spinlord videos on you tube including one where he talks about why he uses Waran short pips rather than inverted on his f/h having tried both in competition.

He plays close to an inverted style on f/h with the short pips but more disruptive on b/h with medium pips.

Good player, watched all his videos already. However he does not have an inverted backhand.

Well, previously to my wrist injury... I did that setup! Garaydia ALC tenergy 64 FX backhand and a tsp super spinpips chop 2 on the forehand -- still hoping I can return to a similar setup.

You attack with the SSPC 2? Isn’t that a fairly slowish rubber?

Not much at the time, just for pushes and chops. A smash here and there if it was a given. General strategy was to do heavy backspin to receive a push, and then power loop it with the backhand. Since having to use a forehand attacking style, I would probably opt for something faster that I've used like moristo SP. I've used the SSCP 2 on a firewall plus and did fine attacking with it. Very controlled, and while not as fast as the speedy pips -- I could put more balls on the table, at better angles. So I actually ended winning more just through consistency and less unforced errors.

Some say it's too slow, but I don't really see how. At much higher levels, probably. From my view, with the fast tensor kind of pips the smashes feel terrific (when they land)! However, I end up missing a lot more "easy" balls with them. Basically, if you enjoy hitting that killer smash every 2 out of 10 balls, then they will be a delight. One of my favorites, after watching sriram, was the spectol 21. Less spin, better speed and still good control.

They are slow, and that's why I use them; in my personal experience though, BH attacking works pretty well too, as long as you can really smack that ball.

Yeah, I can see a slower SP on the BH being good, having a hard time imagining it on the Fh.

Yeah depending on your style. With mine I was basically doing a reverse modern defender, meaning chops on the forehand and attacks from the backhand. Not an all out attacking style with the forehand like zhan Jian for example

By the way, I know this kind of off-topic so i apologize in advance, but I just wanted to say that SSPC2 is pretty fun to chop with, and I really don't think it's THAT HARD to chop with, as many people said. Perhaps dunc's technique is excellent for P1-R, but not so much for SSPC2.

No offense to you dunc, I hope it didn't look like I was trying to diss you; you're an excellent player :P It's just that it seems you really couldn't use the SSPC2 from what you said

The sscs2 is much harder to use than long pips. Especially against higher rated players. You can use it well in training even, against fast and powerful topspins you could drill it in. But live games with random placements and movement, those factors increase the difficulty a ton.

Getting a bit off topic though. The players I tried to emulate were zhan Jian and liajiawei. There's also wu jiaduo. And shen yanfei

Johnny Huang is double SP, not Inv/SP.
