How do you attack sidespin on bh? If I hit, the ball goes long, if I loop, the ball is very weak without spin... Any tips how to practice?

With pure side spin, the top and the bottom of the ball won't be spinning much at all. Just a thought.

You can counter the spin, and if the ball is high you can definitely attack. The trick is identifying the sidespin shot and having an idea of how much spin is on the ball. If you are not sure how to return, an easy way to get the ball on the table at least is to copy your opponents motion.

I suppose if you know what sidespin is on the ball, and its effect when the ball comes off you racket, then you hit the ball towards the other direction. For instance, if you know the ball is going to reflect to your right, then hit the ball a little to your left or angle the bat to the left at the time of impact.

Use the incoming spin and add to it by going with the spin. Going against the spin will produce a fairly weak shot with little spin.

I mean I know how sidespin works but when they serve long side to backhand where I have short pips I can't go "with the spin". I was wondering if there's a viable option of attacking that won't put me in a disadvantage. (It is easier with inverted because you can go over the ball and make topspin)

You're talking about receiving a long BH sidespin serve from their BH corner to yours, correct? (assuming both players are rigthies.)

Since the spin would take the ball towards their FH corner, in order to counteract it and prevent the ball from going wide, try to direct your hit towards their BH a little.
Also, you don't have to hit hard. A shorter, maybe flick-like stroke, would result in a not-so-fast ball but, coming to their FH corner, it would likely catch them off-guard.

Alright, so short stroke + placement does the job I guess. I'll test it on next practice. Ima try inverted again if I fail at this but hope not
