In general thinner sponge is more disruptive and better control for passive strokes unless extreme incoming spin. Thicker sponge allows to counter more spin more aggressively.
Chopping can be more passive or more active, so optimal thickness differs.
Slower blades definitely perform better with thinner sponges under rubbers (pips-in and pips-out). Some combinations of faster blades with thinner rubbers are bad, but I cannot tell so in general.

I tend to use 1.8mm but on tricky sp like 101 I wonder if a 2mm will be easier to control since it s more spinny like spectol blue in max was easier to control than blue on 1.8mm

I meant that thicker sponge will make sp a little bit more predictable without losing too much in the spin resistance.I think 101 in 2mm or msx sponge will be more easier to handle despite the speed than 1.8mm.

According to a scientifical sdudy sp is primarily for playing hammer shots, not for accuracy

Be happy.

It is known that short pips have less effect than smooth rubber, even so I wanted you to tell me which is the short pip with more effect that you know.
Thanks.
Der Materialspezialist Spinfire is by far the spinniest short pip I have tried. I have played with 802-40, Waran, Degu and Haifu Dolphin. I use short pips on my forehand.

I have tested many Sp as well.I doubt Spinfire is spinnier than Haifu Dolphin which was factory tuned; the smell of the booster was rather noticeable.Hard sponge in 2.1 a rocket with incredible spin.Very good for serves and durable as hell.
We all know the story about Haifu rubbers being out of the LARC,all of them but Haifu does not care, they get rich just by selling their booster.
