| Post subject: | How do popular short pips play without sponge? |
Most of my time with short pips has been with 2-sided Dr. Evil on a KTL Toxic 3. I have tried Butterfly Orthodox and Yasaka A1-2 but did not like either one: they felt mushy to me. I am trying out RITC 802 OX on my Gambler Oversize Kevlar blade, and so far I like it. I feel that I have the crispness in hitting that I felt with Dr Evil, and I get more spin on serves and pushes. How do other popular short pips play OX? I am especially interested in RITC 802, 802-40, and 802-1; and Globe 889 and 889-2; and maybe RITC 799. So who has tried them without sponge, and what do you think? |

Do you compete in regular tournaments or hardbat only tournaments or neither If neither amd only play casually, you can use whatever you want. If you compete in hardbat only events, any composite blade such as Kevlar is illegal. If you compete in regular (sponge) tournaments with a hardbat, I have to wonder why or what are you trying prove. I would suggest a setup with short pips with sponge forehand & OX long pips backhand. You can then of course Kevlar or whatever blade. But if you have some moral hangups about long pips (many hardbatters do) , then please ignore me |
