Let's say that you serve a heavy backspin serve, but your opponent is good enough to banana flick it, he flicks it very well (You can't guess the direction, because he changes it at the end of the stroke) How do you return the flick? It's got topspin right? And is relatively slow? And long? I notice the pros invariably attack flicks, mainly because flicks are very common at that level. Easier said than done of course, what I would do is take a step back from the table right after the serve if you expect a flick. Also don't serve the same serve too many times, vary and disguise the spin, vary where it lands on the table, occasionally serve a fast, long one, etc. MY problem is that the people I play against NEVER flick, so I can't practice against it...

Same as any topspin. You can block it or counterloop it. I'm assuming you are bot a chopper or you would not have this question. So only two choices. And same as any topspin, it's better to counter than block, if you can.

Also, if you’re getting jammed up with direction problems, then maybe your serves are too central. Try serving more extremely to either side so you have a better chance to predict the next shot direction.

The problem is that the opponent knows the spin and placement of your serve. If the opponent knows that, he will always get the advantage and you will always be in trouble. You need to vary your serves more and make them unpredictable, with good placement, low, fast and deceptive.
