That was a rather important bit of info to leave out of the original post... :P

You are right. I thought my skill has improved to handle a faster bat and maybe force myself to attack more. Unfortunately, my defense suffered in trying to control faster setups and also my serve. Also, my attacks were a little bit off (flying long outside the table) with the faster setups. I'm using the same amount of force with a faster setup.

So I need to adjust a lot more if I want to use faster setup. Lesson learned but will take awhile to be able to handle the faster blade/rubber combo to the point of being instinctive.

I played 3 good players last night. The last 2 were higher rated players. I lost terribly to the first good player with the super alc. When I was focused and had the right hit/stroke, I was winning good points. But unfortunately, made more errors with it. I played more consistent and better against the other two when I switched to my regular alc. My attacks were on the table more and less errors.

Won 1 finally in comp. Let's see if I'll have more favorable results.

I lost a best of 5 with me leading 2-1 and have a good lead in the 4th. But at least it's not because my attacks weren't on the table.

I still should've won that. Will try harder next time.

Table comparison.

Why are SanEi tables so different to Stiga, Xushaofa and others?

Are they? Did you play them at the same venue?

Played them in different venues, the ball doesn't bounce the same as Stiga/XuShaofa which I have been using at other clubs.

I cannot hit with the same power and I find I have to reduce the power just to put it on the table. Cannot play instinctively and I have to play in control.

Floor probably matters a lot here, at least for bounce: wood, concrete, red synthetic thingie...

The flooring is wood (basketball court) so it's also similar to other clubs.

I've seen the evolution of players from long pips/inverted rubber combo to long pips/short pips and long pips/long pips.

I also see kids starting playing long pips/inverted rubber. Then going to inverted rubbers.

Do you see this in your clubs/comps too?

Long pips/ long pips is a very unusual setup here( for obvious reasons ).

The combo short pips/ long pips is already in fashion in the high level older veterans ,for obvious reasons .

Yes,some kids are already using long pips because the intelligent trainer realizes the kid cannot improve a lot more with a continuous weak BH ,which no matter what they do they cannot improve . However, mastering the LP techniques earlier on is yielding some , still very few , LP teenagers
