LOL, thats only because you are on the wrong end of the 3rd ball kills.
I just listed my serves so I could see them. I have 10 major serves. Six of them I can do side, top or chop or twiddle to use short pips or LP for no spin, depending on which bat I am useing. That makes 24 variations without counting placement. I could probably play 3 games without useing the same serve twice, but I do have my favorites.
I am always ready for a 3rd ball kill. Thats why I use serves that use a similar stroke to make different results, hoping for a popup.
Most people only consider the serve they are about to make. It is really TWO serves and the first serve can affect what your opponent will do with the second creating a point outright or a 3rd ball opportunity.
Third ball kills still exist all right.
At the world level, you don't see a huge variety and I would probably eat most of them. They would be turned into 2nd ball kills. But at the levels I am interested in, they serve me well.
