I know that OX LP can return serves effortlessly using a neutral bat angle. A few strong servers can make me miss sometimes, but it's not hard to return the next serve if I make a "read" (very vague idea of top or back spin, from me as a horrible reader  ) and make a minor adjustment.

No such luck with classic antis so far. Yasaka Anti Power is affected by strong serves like crazy. Against a lower-level player I have to "push" his backspin. Against a very good server's topspin pendulum, my usual bat angle flies miles high like with inverted... seems I'd have to receive with an angle that I'm not using in other strokes with this anti.

Butterfly Super Anti may be slightly better. Played it ages ago, but I think it was also affected by spin.

Today I slapped a Neubaur ABS2 top sheet on a hurricane provincial blue sponge 39' (don't ask me how I got there...). On the robot against pure side, a bump is not affected by the spin at all; in fact, it veers in the other direction sometimes, I believe because it slips...So seems like frictionless anti is not affected after all no matter the sponge.

With Anti power, it goes greatly into the affected spin direction.

Just wanted to see what experience ppl have with serve receives with antis.

On a related note, normal flantis didn't work for me because I'm a penholder (currently using single sided JPEN), and it's too slow/unreliable in attacks. I've found it has more grip and hits easier with the hurricane sponge, but I'm not totally sure why. One thing I'm slightly worried about is blocks too fast.. we'll see

Apparently I didn't test with strong-enough sidespin...

Tested again with Diabolic/Transformer - Transformer somewhat affected by sidespin after a few min of play on robot... one-week old Diabolic also reacts to opponent serves enough for me to miss...

Any input? Or back to OX?
