Post subject:  What anti spin better than long pip?

Hello I was a long pip user and just bought a anti spin rubber stokecraft 0.8 sponge.

I tried the anti spin rubber yesterday , I found this was slow and spin reversal was so good. I think long pip has the similar functions and long pip can attack. However I feel anti rubber seems can not attack and I became very passive in the game.

Can you please share what are the advantages of Anti spin rubber compare with the long pip?

Thanks

First of all Störkraft 0.8mm is one of the best slick anti available on the market. Glanti (slick anti) has a lot more spin reversal than the long pips. The possibility to short block with a lot of backspin makes the next topspin very difficult for your opponent. So difficult that very often, after the first block if he tries to topspin again then he will make a mistake. With long pips you can't do that.

I agree it can be difficult to attack with a glanti. It's the only disadvantage I could think of compared to a long pips.

A few more disadvantages of frictionless antis compared to long pips:

-less ability to vary spin, leading to more predictability

-greater sensitivity to no-spin, especially long no-spin - if you're playing with frictionless anti, against an opponent who is a good attacker, you are
under pressure to attack if you get long no-spin because if you don't, your return, which won't have much spin on it, might get hammered.

- a bit more sensitivity to sidespin - long pips grip sidespin a bit better, which allows you to control it, even while the pips aren't that sensitive to it

I have just begun to test Sauer & Troger Super Stop in 1.9 on a Xiom Ice Cream AZXi. I've been trying to find a fast forehand that I can more easily end points while still being able to take advantage of being able to slow down play or defend from distance.

SS is in between classic and frictionless anti. I've played mostly with classic antis. Recently I've been playing with just about the whole spectrum of LP too. I seem to get along best with grippier LPs and am also testing the new Ilius B but really like Feint Long 3 in the thicker sponges. I tried DMS Scandal 2.0 recently but found it hard to adjust to. It seems I'm too used to the blocking angles required using inverted or long pips.

SS was better from the beginning. Some are saying that it is a little too safe. I think that it gives lots of options. It's strength is that you can do most anything you'd like with it. Its biggest weakness might be its lack of spin on all shots. With the poly ball asking for a lot of disruption may be too much to ask from any legal rubber so placement, changing speeds and being able to play different shots from different distances is what I'm most happy about SS.

Anti spin pros:

Less sensitive to all spins, more forgiving returns

Can attack back spin easier, since it reverses to top spin with greater effect

Can block shorter with much less skill required if using a dampening sponge

Not as much time needed to learn compared to long pips, due to no bending of pips etc.

Generally not as difficult and safer to play -- both for you and against your opponent

Cons:

More predictable - fewer spin variation capabilities

Have to apply greater force against no spin or back spin balls, otherwise your returns will be "sitters" for any decent player

Returns often pop up higher than long pips (just a matter of technique, but the basic ball bounce will be higher and slower)

Need more strength to play actively each hit, as it can feel like swinging at the ball with a pillow!

+1 and expensive as hell....... Flantis allowed and frictionless pips banned, lo and behold !!!.... any fat ,no footwork flanti user beating a kid is the same as any fat no footwork frictionless LP user beating a kid
