Today i got a tournament with ABS 3. I confirm what i said in previous post but with my Matador Texa Carbon i felt like i was playing with a very slow normal anti. No mistake from opponents on block, sideswap, attacking. Zero strange effects. I will go back to storkraft. Less consistency but play flanti witouth reversal doesnt make sense. I don't know if my rubber was damaged or something, seeing your post It can be maybe..

Hi. I´ve been watching your match. To get the most out of this rubber you can´t rely on passive play. I think you can use more chopblocks and put energy in the ball when pushing. Try to watch luca mladenovic or carlos muehlbach ( don´t know the spelling).

Also your opponent is playing with not much spin in your BH. Since you can´t generate spin he is playing a good strategy against you. Try to twiddle and sniff out the long floaters to attack.

Also after almost every attack your feet are out of position for the follow up. Try to work on that. It will be the easiest way to improve no matter what rubber you end up with.

You have a good BH attack with the anti. I like it. What rating are you?

Thanks for feedback mate! I know i have to work on legs movement but Is hard as i don't have a coach on my team to play multi balls. I'm actually 2100 of italian ladder and regional champion of my category (2000-3500 italian ladder). I understand your point of view about reversal but storkraft, also in training match, has much more. Today i played with two friends and they confirmed that. Storkraft is also much more effective on attacking. I feel that ABS 3 Is great rubber but i don't see the distruptive effect i see in videos you mentioned. Not sure if the problem Is my technique (but same technique with storkraft work pretty weel) or i got a bad one. I also tried ABS 2 pro this evening and i noticed more reversal and this is strange looking at previous posts.

In my testing on the robot I found the same as Gepi. I think both Storkraft and ABS3 are good rubbers, but they play differently and the one you choose has to depend on your style and what you want out of it. If you want maximum reversal and slowest speed, that's definitely Storkraft. As pointed out, you also get a bit less consistency as a result. I feel like Storkraft is also easier to play an "in and out" game where you drop balls shorter with more ease. However, with ABS3 this is also possible, it just takes more practice and the short is not quite as short, but you can still get multiple bounces when blocking against top spin with the right touch.
I found my attacks to be much more consistent with ABS3 and I could hit the ball harder. As Carels has done, I have also been watching matches from Luka. He is now playing in the German Bundesliga top division and recently beat Omar Assar, and gave quite a match to Dang Qiu. As Carels noted, he plays a much more active game. That aggressive side swipe that he does is very effective even against the top players, and he frequently twiddles or steps around to loop.
If you are good enough to twiddle and have the movement to step around and loop, the ABS3 is an excellent choice as its consistency and control can set up a good attack. If you are lacking the skills in that area, the Storkraft is probably better.
Personally for my game, I'm having a hard time deciding. I like to attack using the "junk" rubber on my backhand, so I'm very intrigued by the ABS3. It's very good. It would just be a bit of a change in style and tactics from the Storkraft, which I've been using for a couple of years now and am happy with.

Exactly that!
It is the same feeling I had after trying it a few practice sessions . Spin reversal is not its strong point but the ability to keep the opponent on the defensive and then attack.

Is there a chance that someone can compare it to the Yasaka's Trick Anti?
Because of how I read the current reviews it seems like ABS3 is more of a frictionless Trick Anti - slow, lots of control and, probably, more passive reversal? (The Trick Anti is more a classical anti in this sense, but very controllable. I'm wondering if the ABS3 can be viewed as a step towards true frictionless antis but still somehow comparable to the TA or is it totally a different beast from the Yasaka's anti..)

I have tried ABS 3 very briefly in both 1.5 and 2.0. I am not very used to the ABS rubbers but as I can recall the other ones are not very blade dependent. But ABS 3 seem to be rather blade dependent.

I have tried i have rubber on Palio TCT that normally is a very nice blade for anti, with extremely low throw. But ABS 3 was not good at all on that blade, with high throw, unpredictable block length, and very little back spin.

I also tried it on a Stiga Clipper Classic, that is not the best blade for anti (1.2 Störkraft and 1.2 SuperGlanti works ok). And ABS 3 was not good on that blade either, high throw and low spin.

Then I tried it on my current blade, Barna Victory. Here, the 1.5 mm had a nice low throw angle and some back spin at blocks (no way near SuperGlanti). Attacking against no spin felt very nice and the control was great.

I also tried 2.0 briefly on Stiga Carbonado 90 tonight and that seemed to have some potential, with ok throw angle (for being 2.0 mm). I will have to try the 1.5 mm on that blade. This blade, like many carbon blades, have a tendency to kill some of the back spin on blocks.

So far, Victory seem to be the best choice so far. I have a few more blades to try it on.

Def-Attack where did you find the 1.5 mm? I thought ABS3 was only available in 2.0.

To answer the question comparing ABS3 vs Trick Anti. I would say that your thoughts are correct. I only had a couple of sessions with the Trick Anti. It's more of a traditional anti, but maybe with a little more reversal and a little slower. But great control. So, yes, in a way somewhat close to the ABS3, but ABS3 is more on the frictionless anti side.

I would say, ABS3 is, in my opinion, closer to Trick Anti than Storkraft. Storkraft is just a totally different animal.

So Luka has not switched to ABS 3? Thats strange as he his the best dr Neubauer player with anti.
