She was close to 2500 in ratings at one time
https://www.ratingscentral.com/PlayerHi ... yerID=9868
Now she is not even 2000 after she joined Dr.Neubauer as a sponsored player
Did she use long pips before joining Dr.Neubauer and started using anti lately and she is not good anymore ??

Amelie have used anti backhand for very long if not the whole professional career. The old antispin rubber Joola Amy named as tribute to her. And afaik she have used Neubauer's antispins for years while still being sponsored by Joola.

Smooth antispin and long pips technique is very different so it is unlikely that she recently changed her BH to pips-out.

She has been sponsored by Dr. N for quite some time and her current world ranking is 79 which has been pretty consistent (some up and down along the way) for the past few years. So based on that I would say nothing happened.
By the way, her close to 2500 on ratingscentral was 13 years ago. She started using frictionless anti after frictionless pips became illegal.

What does that translate to in USATT ratings? (Probably find some other players who have both, close to her rating..)

So I looked up the world rankings to find a US player with a similar ranking to Amelie and I found Amy Wang ranked 129 so a little bit lower than Amelie who is currently at 80. Amy Wang's USATT rating currently is 2535.

So she'd be about a 2600-2650 player.

So what happened to her? Either her opponents got used to her style (if she plays in professional leagues this wouldn't be surprising, because they play against each other a lot) or a bunch of up-and-coming players came along and surpassed her. Or there might be some other reason - injury, changes in her personal life, etc., or maybe she's just getting older and slower. I know it'd be tempting to blame equipment (or rule changes), given that that's what so many of us here are interested in, but I'd put that as the last of the possibilities.

just stating the obvious , she gained quite a bit of weight from 2013 onwards . I found a video clip where she played head to head against Liu SHIWEN and she was just way quicker and she would quite often turn around and surprise with the forehand . Now she just blocks on the backhand most of the time. I also agree she has had the surprise affect against good players who never played against antispin at the higher level and they most likely ended up getting used to the style.
