Zhang rui meets against Miwa Harimoto in WTT Tunis final
Lots of people says Zhang rui is imitate CNT player for Mima Ito, because she is using short pips
Well, the way she played is not like Mima, who does a lot of short pips punching and sometimes
strawberry flick, but not Zhang rui
Anyway, I'm curious, what kind of short pips Zhang rui is using?

I don’t remember which website it was but I read a few Chinese articles saying that Zhang Rui and Sun Mingyang used to use Spectol but currently they both use VO>102 now.

Never ever will you be able to play with the same rubber or sponge advertised on online shops ,which the pros use.

They play with customized sponges, blades and I dare even say rubbers .Brands do survive thanks to the amateur world.A great number of amateurs STILL believe they can play with the exact equipment a pro uses.Brands need amateurs to believe they can play with what Zhang Rui -or whoever player comes to your mind - is presently playing .

Even the amateur anti world is so blind with reality.Pros do not use ,for example, the same SuperGlanti or if they did, they do something else to the top sheet to be slicker - I know this for a fact - .

Therefore, all the threads on what this new fancy pro or old legend is using at the moment are a waste of time imo but of course, you are entitled to ask for whatever information satisfies your curiosity .

@ charmander defender

Dear Sir,
May we shed more light on the matter of "castomized rubbers" you mentioned prior to here.
-- To begin with, "castomized rubbers" do not exist at all. ITTF did prohibited the use of any rubbers that are not commercially available. ref. T4 Technical Regulations.

Be happy.

Customized blades, sure - or rather, they are given a big stack of blades, they can then choose the ones they like and the rest get given back or given away to lesser players. Some of them will modify the blades further (I've heard Herr Ovtcharov or Herr Boll carves the handle). This really isn't a big deal, anyone can get custom blades - Nittaku will even make one for you (see their web site).

Rubbers? Sure - I've heard some of them get harder sponge. The scuttlebutt some years back was that the Chinese National Team orders special Tenergy 05 with harder sponge for their players. Easy to do if you order 200 sheets at a time. Do European players do the same? Don't know, but I don't think Butterfly or ESN would be willing to make 10 special sheets of something. 200, maybe. Why don't they put this stuff on the open market? Because it'd be a logistical and stocking nightmare. Imagine running a table tennis store and having to stock 24 different kinds of Tenergy 05 or Evolution MX-P (you already have to stock 6 - three thicknesses and two colors).

(And then there's the whole morass of an issue of "personal" H3... Then again, I suspect it's only the top tier Chinese National Team that gets this sort of personal service from DHS.. Maybe 10-15 people?)

GLanti? Who among the pros uses it other than Amelie Solja?

I guess, when it boils down to it... why would you want to play with the exact equipment as any of the pros? They're a lot better than you are, and what works for them won't necessarily work for you anyway. EmRatThich said you'd probably find Ma Long's bat way too heavy, and it would feel DEAD.
