Maybe go for what Xu Xin uses, perhaps? It's a Stiga somethingoranother.. probably has ebony or some other hardwood on the face. Iskandar

Hi, I am looking for a C-pen blade which is very good for looping. What are your recommendations ? Currently I have the following C-pens : Violin, Roots 5, Roots 9, Virtuoso, Taksim and Amultart. |

Iskandar Violin ..... pure-wood blade ? Taksim, Amultart ..... composite blades ? Surely the Violin would make a better "loop" blade than the arylate composites ? Also personally as a beginner, I find that soft inner-core + hard top-plies makes more loop-drive and smash possible. While hard/medium inner-core + soft top-plies makes All-Round game possible. More flex or springy a blade will make it easier to loop but not drive or smash as effectively. Does anything I said make sense ? Correct me please

Going haywire I do not have a good faith, so I go from one blade to another. I tried Virtuoso with F2, Borko with Mark VAD, Roots 5 with F2 and Rapscallion with Rakza 7 soft. I think Raqpscallion is too stiff. I think I am starting to get some feel on it, my trainer said that my stroke is getting better, but the spin is still far from good. I used to hit hard, so I find it rather difficult to brush the ball  .

You might try looping with slower stroke speed, and longer arm movement and aim to land the ball only half-way down the table? I found learning FH looping, needed lots more controlled strokes with very compact placement. "Play inside the box" is a typical requirement during practice ( rectangle size of A4 sheet ). Also I found that if I don't worry too much about how high the ball rises and as long as it comes down half-table, I can start putting a lot more spin on the ball with a faster vertical stroke while still landing the ball in the box. Now to generate speed I close the bat angle and play the same stroke diagonally with explosive results  And yes the ball lands , and on the white lines, and goes phwooom

I don't think switching blades has anything to do with it, though it can't help. Whatever happened to the Violin, etc.? Iskandar |

Man and iskandar got it. Love stiga. Stay away from hard if you’re starting out. I started with stiga rosewood soft rubber now up to carbonados (I have them all), xiom hinoki is fun but I don’t ply matches with it. But you need good technique! Use your legs, then arm lastly wrist. The more speed the faster the blade you can handle. Lately I’ve gotten slower and I’m blocking more. Too old.
