Okay I found this from MYTT forum member *Totoro (btw he is 13 years old :D ). he posted the finals of the australian closed

.....okay the womens player in Lay Jian Fay, she uses SP and LP, from what I see in the video, she plays a classic PH game, so absolutely no RPB at all, kinda reminds me of HZW.

Does anyone, know more info on her??? Here's the link:

Actually, that's my YouTube version of the Aussie Closed. Good to see people are watching it. I've actually put up the semis of the Aussie Closed today - you can find them at http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=R_V-gtTUnfA&feature=channel_page

There's a bit more of Jian Fang Lay in that one too towards the end, playing Peri Campbell-Innes.

Enjoy!

Suplazza you could be right, the shine coming off that red rubber looks like inverted, but the sound sounds like short. 50/50!!!

The guy playing William in the first half is Kiet Tran, one of my clubs top players, who also uses short pimples on BH.

She's using inverted (Bryce I think) on the red, and long pips on the black. You can see her twiddle if you look closely. Not bad for a penholder!

Her Chinese name is HONG Jianfang, born in Zhe Jiang Province, China in 1973. She started formal table tennis training when she was 7. She was accepted to China's Youth Team when she was 14. At age of 16, she became Zhe Jiang provincial champion. She moved to Australia when she was 21. You should know her information since then, such as playing in 2000 and 2004 Olympics, etc.

Excellent research, C&W! :D

Here is some more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lay_Jian_Fang

IMHO, it is safe to say her name is Lay Jiangfang these days as she is entered into the Olympic Games by the Australian Olympic Committe under it.
I think it is time to give her a profile and add her to the index now :)

Yes, I agree that she should be under name "Lay Jianfang".

When you have a chance to meet her again next time, can you please find out what blade and LP (OX or with sponge) she's using? Curious to know. Thanks!

Hi, this is actually Totoro.

Yea she's using inverted on the FH, not SP.

Apparently she's using Avalox Blade and her LP is something like 755.

Wow I haven't been on this forum for ages..

She married to a man[her coach] called Jorge Lay. That's why her english name is Lay Jian Fang.

Most people in China know her as Hong Jianfang though.
