Wang Yang has been playing well at the Worlds.... Too lazy to post his videos but he had some good wins vs Portugal, Denmark, etc. Moving well, chopping well, his fh is fire.

Do we know anything about his current FH rubber? Any good screenshots?

He looked absolutely brilliant in the matches I played, was really exciting to watch. He also turned one of the Danish players into a baby - he was being so bloody sulky

So I have an update on Wang Yang's equipment. He plays in the Russian Premier league so his racket has been photographed and from what I heard he's just a nice fellow overall, willing to talk to people.

Just watched Yang Wang beating Mattias Falck in 5 sets at WTT DOHA.

Considering he is using a short pip on his BH I was surprised at how one dimensional he played on that side. Wang only chopped/backspin pushed with the pips and made no attacking shots with the pips or twiddling which kept Falck in some points.

His FH is more varied with a good mix of chops and spinny topspins. and it was his FH variety that probably won him the match as Falck was able to counter the BH chops fairly comfortably with his SP FH

Wang Yang's backhand has always been a mystery to me. I get his short pips chops, but he NEVER hits with it. Must be a style choice.

The stroke that really I do not understand is when his opponent pushes or drop shots to his backhand, it looks like he gently touches or taps that ball back with his short pips, in what would look like an easy ball for his opponent to rip, but they don't. Somehow, either through excellent placement to where they can't rip it, or somehow he is really loading that with spin that I just cannot see, he makes that return effective.

He is fun to watch.
