Great to welcome this promising young defender! Kang Dongsoo is ranked 324, Fang Bo (recent winner of Austrian open) is ranked 24th...

Here's an earlier qualification match at the Kuwait open against Mikhail Gladyshev:

This article was written on ITTF-website:

Kang Dongsoo Causes Sensation as Koreans Shine on Third Day in Kuwait

Second place in the group, through to the main draw courtesy of success in the preliminary round, Korea’s Kang Dongsoo caused the sensation of the third day’s play, Saturday 16th February, at the ITTF 2013 World Tour Kuwait Open.

Having upset the pecking order by beating Singapore’s Zhan Jian, the no.10 seed, in the opening round, the 18 year old continued his outstanding form to overcome China’s Fang Bo, the winner in January at the ITTF 2013 World Tour Austrian Open.

Kang Dongsoo won in seven games (8-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-9,7-11, 11-8, 11-7) to book his place in the third round.

On the opening day of proceedings, he had been narrowly beaten by Austria’s Daniel Habesohn, the variations in his defensive art being the major problem for the Austrian.

Against Fang Bo, the backspin play rose one step up the ladder, the top spin play rose two steps; he was able trade forehand top spins with the Chinese star.

Second Appearance
Furthermore, it is only the second time that Kang Doosoo has ever played on the ITTF World Tour and the first time he has ever competed in a Men’s Singles event.

Also, it is the first time he has ever won a single match. The one other appearance was last year on home soil in Korea; he finished in third place in his group, beaten by Japan’s Yuto Higashi and Chinese Taipei’s Lee Chun-Lin.

Wow he's really entertaining to watch! His backhand rubber (anti?) seems really slow and quite effective.

It seems Korea at least 3 new kids on the block

It must be some kind of LP on his BH. P-4? Seems to generate some spin and it seems pretty slow also. Bo Fang had major difficulties looping more than once. Most of his second loops went to the net. Also Kang seems to veery gifted in disguising spin, both in FH serve, in BH chops but mostly in FH chops. Thats where he seems to win most points (only watched first 3 sets of match against Bo) if he can keep them low and not too long. Both Bo Fang and Gladyshev put a lot of his fH chops to the net, both on drop shots and when looping. I wonder what kind of rubber he is using on FH, it looks a little darker than Tenergy....

Edit: Watched the rest of the match agasint Bo. Hmmm... not so sure he uses LP. Sounds more like SP and some of his short pushes over the table seems to generate more spin than a LP normally does. But how doe he manage to generate that amount of back spin on his 2nd chops? Good technique perhaps :) .

Since manofan posted this in the anti-spin section, I assumed it was anti-spin.

The match against Fang Bo was a cracker. Tremendous amount of back spin on those chops. May be using short pips with thin sponge (not sure though) :?:

Just watched the match and I can say 100% sure that its not an anti, I can tell this by the sound the rubber makes when he chops. They way he chops im 95% sure its a Short Pip but I could be wrong but its not an anti of that im sure
