Some news from Abusev... Just watched his recently released "master class" video where he teaches some receive techniques etc etc and also talks about his equipment. ( I post the video but it's 100% in Russian so that won't be too useful.)

Let me summarize as it is 100% legit info directly from the source. He did say he started with Tenergy 64, and played with it for many years. In recent years, mostly due to the ball changes, he switched to Tenergy 05 FX which he explains felt just right and worked well with his FH chops. He tried the regular 05 but it was too hard and he couldn't control the ball height well. He said the same about FL3 0.5 which also felt good for his big chopping stroke. Overall he explained that he picked his rubbers based on what felt good basically by trial and error.

p.s. he also talked about his retirement, mainly due to stress, injuries, and lots of pressure. He hinted on a possibility of a comeback at some point soon but did say he's currently focusing on his studies.
