Welcome and great to have you here! I think it's the first time (?) subject of the thread is making an appearance  .

If you don't mind - can you tell us what made your game so uncomfortable for the pros you faced? Any other tips you can share?

Found another video of this guy from 2016:

I don't know if there's a better OX LP player in the world today. He has a monster forehand and, on his backhand, incredible control and LOTS of funk.

Didn't he tell us that he uses 1.5mm sponge and not OX just a few posts back?

Well, some guy who signed up to this forum as "zhangguozhi" DID tell us that, but how certain are you that he's the real guy? For instance, in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CikWCfYsGew), at around the 0:24 mark, you'll see a comment displayed saying he uses OX. Whoever made the video could be wrong, of course, but the strokes look to me like OX strokes, and he plays close to the table, with blocks that have lots of dampening effect (see, for example, the crazy block that you can see in slow-mo at around the 3:10 mark).

This second (longer) video of the same match (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BI2WWmRTLCA), admittedly by the same poster, is entitled "[Hainan 2018] Match 4, Zhang Guozhi(LP OX), Chen WeiXing(LP w Sponge)"

So not sure what to think....

We exchanged a few emails some time ago and I can confirm that Zhang played with a 1.5 mm sponge.
Unfortunately, rubber is not sold with the 1.5 sponge, or I can't get it to try. I'll probably buy another sponge and just try it. So far, I'm playing with a D-1 OX
