Ball trajectory doesn't look like it's short pimples
For example the longer rally, more topspin the more backspin is coming back.
Which is typical LP characteristic.

Great young talent!!! Just wondering (hopefully not my imagination) what are the white/faded patches on the red pips side? They appear to be very obvious. Wear and tear maybe? :?

No one is saying that. I say he is using TSP Spectol, not Victas Spectol S1.

Not sure but:
1. Someone random said the chinese forums say its spectol
2. If you look at the thumbnail of the Sun Yang vs Kwon Hyuk WTT video, the topsheet looks like tsp spectol

We have already discussed that

I read on comments on one of videos someone said its S1
Curl P1-R topsheet looks similar too

We need better evidence then someone said on chinese forum :)

My evidence is not only that, I think his rubber looks exactly like TSP Spectol which the Chinese are known for using.

I don't think it's P1-R:
- pretty sure there was a WTT live recording where Sun warmed up by playing bh drive with his pips
- he sometimes plays with sidespin and upward chops (like short pips players do)
- his rubber seems faster than P1-R
- there are instances of his opponents netting the pushes or loops after Sun pushes with his pips (P1-R isn't that grippy)
- the height of his chops is sometimes high but also the ball lands deep, I wouldn't consider this P1-R style, but short pips style.

Probably you are right but there is no logic to use discontinued rubber that impossible to find in stores ...
