and another one fresh from today! the game ends 1:1 in sets because its a team competition and the game on the other table counted before and ended the team-match alltogether.

That's some aggressive blocking!! I'm trying to incorporate some of those techniques into my game.. I did start blocking more aggressive too but my blocks are not that fast yet..

Hi AA,

I just wanted too ask, that you and forum member Pascal Troger, play a very similar game.
Short and long pip, however you use a off+ blade and he uses a def carbon.

Does the blade play a major role in your approach to a game ie being more offensive? Or can you play a similar type of game to now with a slower blade?

since there are hardly any anti-vids around, here a recent batch of sets at a competition, which show the transition from long pimples to anti after 2 months of training. due to a injury around the area between shoulder and back, i was playing under considerable pain:

Nice to see this video.
Could you tell us why you change to anti?

I always hésitate between LP, short and long pimple and would be happy to know your motivations to choose this.

Thanks

Looks like really good control. I'm impressed.

@ Diabolosyl- the reason behind the change is a long story. but to answer your question: the advantage with log pimples is that they are easier to control and more variation is possible with various strokes. the advantage of these antis is the amount of spin reversal, but they are very hard to master due to lack of control.

@mynamenotbob- thanks! ;) i still have several unforced errors and am just at the beginning of transitioning, need to gain more hands on match-experience.

Are you finding any big weaknesses?

control is the biggest issue, which is why many long pimple players dont find slick antis an alternativ, because they require a lot more training and skill to be played efficiently. attacking technique is difficult and blocking requires a lot of anticipation and estimation how much incoming spin is in the ball because the angle needs to be adjusted. so in general i would say they arent "plug and play" sheets, but have a lot of potential if one learns to handle them.

Hi Ahmed!

Your are playing wel with this anti but it seems that the ball coming out yout anti is not very difficult to handle and very slow too.
I think that a long pips as Dornenglanz will make you more effective with a little less control but much more effectiveness.

it definitely is very slow, but as you can see, on the contrary, it is rather difficult to handle for the opponent, as the opponents do not play their usual offensive game, but are pressured into playing rather defensively due to the spin reversal that can be achieved if you block the ball with the right timing and adjust to the right angle- you also see this in amelie soljas games. dornenglanz was far too fast on my blade, it , like all long pimples, is good for enabling variations and the blocks come faster, which is an advantage to antis, but a good player can loop through the blocks easily, so it was not for me, as it doesnt suit my game at all, i also never chop behind the table.
