Hi! I'm a kid (13 now) who played in my middle school 3-4 days a week, 30+ weeks until the coronavirus. Now I play with my family (they are bad, so I play so that they get 2,3, or even 5 points every time they win :D). I am probably the best in my school (we play during lunch). I spin, mostly forehand and backhand topspin. If you can, please answer my question at https://ooakforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=37201 :) .

I also do a lot of math and competitive programming, hoping to become at least the top 30 students in the US in each area :D

Hi violoniste18, and welcome. I am already 61 and play LH SH, but muck around RH as well. I play retriever style, get everything back varying spin, speed and placement. What is your style beyond hand
(RH) and racket type (SH on RH and PH on LH)?

Post subject:  Re: Introduce yourself

ah ok :D

my style RH (good hand) is top-spin forehand and backhand, with a short pimple, i twist a lot
about 20 years RH and I am among the "top players" in my region at my age category

I play 4 years RH with PH style and i loved it, but it's too hard with footworking at 60 ...
and my RPB with RH penhold is too bad

it's strange, with LH my rpb with PH style is far better
I started PH with LH 1 month ago and I love training so !

in competitions, i will play RH but perhaps in the future LH ...

how many time do you play table tennis, starting penhold ?

Nice to meet all of you. My name is Daniel. I currently live and go to university in Southern California. I'm 19 years old and started playing when I was 10 and took a break in high school. I got back into practicing table tennis in March, when the whole lockdown started, and I practice 4-5 days a week. I'm currently just a recreational player and don't know my current ranking, but I plan to expose myself to formal coaching and club experiences soon. I would say I'm scratching the surface of intermediate level, but still have much to learn.

My playstyle was classical defense, transitioning into modern defense. I started with short pips BH, but am now settling on LP BH. I am currently developing my loop, now learning to loop with tensor rubber but with Chinese stroke(grew up playing with Chinese rubber). My favorite players are Joo Sae Hyuk, Masato Shiono, Honoka Hashimoto , Yuka Ishigaki, Ojio Haruna, and Liu Fei. My favorite tools to use are nospin chop/loop kill, sideswipe serve receive, and twiddle BH punch.

Outside TT, I am a semi-professional magician. My hobbies are learning languages, practicing music, and competitive video games. I was a passionate runner and hiker in high school, but long distance running with bad form took a toll on my knees, which resulted in me taking a long break from sports. I enjoy Korean/Japanese films and music after learning the languages in high school (however, skills are still limited proficiency).

I stumbled upon the forum when trying to figure out my favorite players' equipment.

Looking forward to learn and eventually share information about table tennis with other members! Cheers!~

My name is Brendan, I live in a suburb of Los Angeles called La Canada, I have a beautiful table tennis space in my home, I'm rated 1460, and I'm looking for opponents to come train at my place while I adjust to pips-out rubber. I can pay $20/hr.

I just transitioned from inverted to SP forehand / LP backhand, and I need training partners so that I can build my skills back up to where they were. I'm currently training for a tournament in Chicago on Nov 7/8, and my goal is to get back to approximately my old level before then.

I've been reading posting on OOAK for years, but have never posted. I looked but didn't see a specific section for people looking for training partners in specific geographies.

I'm willing to pay $20/hr at the moment for anyone who is rated 1400+ and is willing to help me train myself back up to 1400-1500 with my new paddles. I'm already playing probably around 1200 and just need another few months to get back up to speed (and beyond).

If you are 1800+ then we may be able to create a long term training relationship as I will not be at that level for some time, if ever.

Thanks!

-Brendan

I've been meaning to put this topic up for a while...but keep forgetting

I would be a great way to get to know each other if we introduce ourselves and tell us a few things about ourselves. What you tell is totally up to you, but here are a few suggestions:

- where are you from, country and club, where you play
- how long you've been playing (how old? )
- playing style
- level
- job or what you do outside TT
- other hobbies
- how you stumbled upon this forum

Cheers guys!

I got my first bat in 2008 after meeting John (Alex's dad) in social tabletennis who introduced me to OOAK.
Now I think I have passed the beginner and intermediate stage and now planning on comprehensively researching all the brands to find the best carbon blade and tacky rubber combination since my playing style is to top spin everything. I try to win with spin (and consistency) rather than speed
I hope to reach the advanced stage with a new blade and more expensive rubbers.

Hi everyone!

This is Rafael Madeira from Faro, Portugal. I've been playing Table Tennis since I was 8 years old. I'm 40 now!

Gear:
Blade: Butterfly Joo Se Hyuk
Forehand: Tenergy 05 (2.1mm Black)
Backhand: TSP Curl P1-R (1.3mm Red)

I used to visit this forum back in 2009/2010 when I was more active and playing in a team, etc.

In the meantime I got diagnosed with 2 tumors and cancer.

I'm in remission and fully recovered since October 2018.

Doctors now said that I can do sports once again, so I got back to playing Table Tennis around a month ago. Never been happier!

Thanks guys!
