Sounds like you are really enjoying Power Pipes

As it is marketed as a fast rubber is it still possible to take the pace off easily when blocking against topspin e.g to drop the ball short with no spin and dead bounce.?

For me, Firestorm is better in almost everything, but good combination with PP

The rubber is an mp. The pimples are as long as lp. They play a very good role. Also the diameter is bigger than lp. They are also stiky. So depending of the angle the sponge is more or less implicated in the shot. So you can really feel the pimples that are playing their role. A fast top spin entering the pimples with an angle are going to be in interraction with the pips. You feel the spin getting reduce by the pimples. There is abit of reversal too. I practice with a 2200 rating guy who like to loop specially with my block. He said that if he's not in good position to hit his ball the ball goes into the net. So yes you can play short or long.

I also like to attack ( counter hit) high arc loop ball coming from the opponant who want to make sure his ball goes over the net against my chop. Very good control.

night of league competition. we know very much each other. With my new way of counterhitting all the 3 opponents that I play were very confused. Good return on the serves. With the BH, my conterhit, drive, chop, block worked very well. it was long than short, than right, than left etc. My FH attack work better. My loop worked better. Their push didn't have much Backspin as I was sending back floating ball the most of the time so it was much easier to loop or hit these push. Won the 3 game of the night. All opponent were having higher rating than me.

I concentrate on attack shot. The last game against the higher rate opponent, Near the end of each game I play more on chop and more heavy puch with s bit of backspin. He hit the ball in the net a lot. so I escape with the victory.

I star to really like these pips. Control, various shots, complement to my attack. I cannot ask for more. Can wait to play again

8)  :D

Continue my quest for a better stability on my shot. My counter to the BH opponant ( right side) is doing much better. It can really fly to the corner with speed. I play about 1 foot further from the table. Like this I can play agresssively without going outside of the table and be ready for chopping if necessary.

I think I will try the ox and the 2,0 mm thickness to feel the difference. I may ending playing the OX for peoples who hate reversal and small pace and the 2,0 mm for upper level and use their speed and spin to counter them and be confortably 1 or 1 1/2 feet behind the table to be more ready to decide the shot I want to play.

I tested DMS Power Pipes 1.8 red on a new Dr Neubauer High tech cypress carbon this is anmal extremely fast combination. I never thought a racket with pips can be so fast (I normally use rakza po max on a primorac carbon which is also rather fast) but this power pipes on a chunky balsa carbon blade is just insane. Great flat hitting and punch blocking and even looping backspin feels great. Way too fast and bouncy tho when recieving serves and playing irregular.

I played 3 different blade with PP. Fast and heavy 94g VKM off, the light 65 g Neubauer firewall + and finally the phenomenon 76 g . The thrid one make me control the fast PP rubber. It also can block the ball with short shot just the other side of the net and also make quite goof offensive FH .

You can see on youtube ¨Aggressor 1,5 mm ttmax with Maxim sherepnin. The second part of the video.

I tested Power Pipes last night for about 3 hours. Not enough time to give a full review, but enough to know I want to give them another go next week. I have also tested Do Knuckle and Super DK, along with Orkan II recently.

I like the PP best of the 4, I'm able to counter hit against a short pip hitter, block and counter against a 2 winged looper. The short blocks were especially effective against the looper. In particular the counter hit against topspin is much better and easier to do than with Orkan II (with OII I found just punch blocking or soft blocking worked better). I need to play with more players to see how it fares against different styles, but this is by far the best I've used since adopting Keiler about 5 years ago.

What I had trouble with was heavy pushes, I need to work out the proper racket angles for pushing, and found it much easier to just hit or flip these balls. I'll try them out some more next week and see if I can solve the issue with heavy pushes.

Do Knuckle would be my second choice and a very close second place finish, with Super Do Knuckle and Orkan II being harder to play with and control - for my style and strokes - they finished last. I probably could adapt and use any of these given some time.

There are a couple of other things I would like to try, Aggressor and Explosive sound interesting, oh and Power Pipes in a 1.5 or so sponge. There are also some new long pips that might work for me. The EJ bug is strong this year!

I find that PP push and chop like an sp. More horizontally for the chop (look at sp defenders video). Also the push work the best with a front push where the bat is pointing toward the front.( The net) The alignement of the pips are vertical so you have a better profond push if the pips are in the same line travel of the ball. I can do underspin push. Funny enough I get better pushes when I go strongly. The ball really goes into the pips and create backspin.

1dennistt, if you didn't get a rating done in the forum ¨new Medium pips list charateristics-Help us to create a list ¨ of all the Mp you tried please do as players will be able to refer to it.

Thank you.

I will, I have so many new ones it may take a little time to sort everything out. The EJ virus is strong this year. So far I just have formed opinions on what I like after hitting with so many different pips. :?:

I am also looking for a replacement for Keiler 1.5mm and PP is near top of list to try in 1.5mm. Dr N Explosion also sounds interesting. You will find
longer pip MPs like Aggressor quite different to Keiler in stroke style. Tried Orkan in 1.5mm but slower not as good for counter hitting topspin as Keiler which is important for my more inverted based style in BH. Also have a sheet of 388C1 on it way to try from another member.

There is a long thread on explosion in the French TT forum

He also has a video comparing KO with Gipfelsturm where he analyses the difference between shot making with a grippy medium pip and smooth type. Both have horizontal pips.

The Maxim Cherepnin videos have been really valuable to me in my transition to using short pips forehand with medium pips backhand. Actually, he is who inspired me to give that a try. I was trying out medium on the backhand with inverted on the forehand, saw his videos, and thought it looked like a fun style.
