When I think of a modern defender, I don't think of someone who attacks with their pips, or whatever defensive rubber they are using for chopping. I think of someone like Yuto Muramatsu or Ruwen Filus or Panagiotis Gionis, who will either look for opportunities to run around and attack with their inverted, or who will twiddle and attack on their forehand. The players that attack with defensive rubbers generally do so close to the table, so I wouldn't categorize them as a modern defender. I agree that, from the perspective of thinking of players like the one I've mentioned, you could probably use this rubber for that purpose, although it might not be the best option.

as a modern defender style basically involves chopping away from the table until a chance to attack arrives there is one big problem with most MP - they are just not very good at chopping. Barna half long in thin sponge may be an exception as may the old TSP militall

Nittaku Do knuckle 0,5 has has very little effect on the first chop, I guess it will be a rubber to attack
