Post subject:  Help in choosing medium pimple rubber

Hi to all. First Happy new year to all forum members .
In need for mid pimp rubber suggestions. Have been out of table tennis for a while due shoulder injury and want to change from smooth rubber on b/h to mid pimple on my backhand .
What to use? Is there rubber that would make easier to learn and transition from smooth to pimples on backhand?
My main style that would like to develop is to defend on b/h only, block, chop reverse spin back to opponent ....

Spinlord Keiler would be a good bet.

Friendship 563 is a cheap one to try. Other good options are TSP Millitall II, or TSP Curl P-2

Comming from inverted I guess MP can be a little tricky. For transition it could be good to start with a cheap SP like 802. But if you go directly to MP I guess 563 is a rather good start, as many shops have it and it is cheap. But you might want to chose a softer sponge if you want more control. You can also consider 563-1 with a little more pimpl effect, but then you move closer to LP. Another great MP that is rather easy for blocking and attacking (not chopping) is Dawei 388C-1. It has a little softer pips than 563 I think, and less grip. 563 can be a little bouncy. But that was for me, comming from LP. Millitall II is a soft and grippy MP that has very good control. It is like a LP with more grip and more attacking possibilities, but almost no pimple effect. It could be good for you if you want to slow down the game a little.

Thanks for suggestions. Yes I want to slow down the game and dont want to be bouncy at all.
Maybe I should be looking for LP instead MP :^)
Im after developing full on defense on bh side , prety much to take pace away , reverse spin , chop but mostly just to take pace away and reverse spin as well take spin of the ball.
Attacking will be only with smoved rubber from FH

Medium pips (MPs) are the hardest pips to learn. Plus, they're more offense-oriented; are bad at chopping; and don't reverse spin all that well.

Based on you stated requirements what you want is a long pip (LP). If you're brand new to pips I'd recommend 755 OX. Cheap, durable, and consistent. A great all-around LP. Use a gluesheet to attach it.

Thanks Nathanso. I'll try 755 ox and se how I go with it. Reading more thru MP tread I realize they are more for attacking style of the game.

Actually, I strongly recommend you to buy 755 both in ox and in 1.0 mm. Going from inverted to LP ox is a HUGE step. Start with 1.0 mm and you will have an easier transition. But going directly to LP is a good choise. You can always try MP if you feel like you want more speed and attacking ability later. If you like LP then there are tons of others to try, but 755 is a cheap and good start.

For chopping, blocking, and spin reversal, OX LP is easier to learn than 1.0mm LP.. by far. 1.0mm LP supports a more advanced game, imho, and in my experience gives less backspin on chops than OX, and less reversal on blocks than OX LP. It also adds 10-15g of weight.

Thx guys.

755 OX I guess would provide more control compared 755 1.0 ?
Except glue sheet is it ok to glue LP with water based glue?

Control is a very subjective thing. You need to try for yourself.
It works fine to glue with waterbased glue, just don't be in a hurry when you do it :)

Water based glue should be fine for OX LP. Use a large diameter roller (like a coffee can) to apply the label area first; then slowly roll on the rest moving from handle to tip. 755 is cheap enough that buying OX and 1.0mm is easily done (don't try that with Butterfly Feint!)

Good luck and keep us apprised of your results.

Thanks guy's I'll keep you posted on how I'll go with learning LP .
Probably will be lots of sweat ;( and frustration :punch: lol
Orderd 755 ox and 0.6 plus glue sheet for ox.
I guess will have to continue in LP tread.
