Hello, i´m very statisfied with Spinlord Keiler 1,5mm on my backhand on Arbalest Thor 6.0 (former Yinhe Speer). Currently i play Joola Samba + in 1,8mm on my forehand. With Samba I can smash excellently. I can not produce a lot of spin with it. I play block/counter/smash on both sides. My goal is to "open" every ralley very quickly to get to an spinless ralley, mostly i Play a Kind of Topspin with my backhand and then Counter and Smash. My biggest problem is my vulnerability against serve to my forehand. Intelligent opponents avoid my good backhand return and serve to Forehand. So I often won´t come to the Situation to Smash. Therefore i´m thinking a lot about playing with Keiler on both sides, 1,8 or 2.0 on forhehand. With Keiler i have a Sound return and a good Smash too (different and not so fast as Samba). The whole Forehand Play is much more disruptive (of Course). Any opinions or advices? My level is medium. German TTR is around 1630. Please excuse bad english (not native speaker) and bad use of upper and lower letters (german browser settings on corrections and i´m to lazy to correct all the wrong letters) Greetings Claus |

Certainly anything is possible on the amateur level! I've used a similar combo before, keiler on the forehand and spinlord gipfelsturm on the backhand. Great for the smashing style of play and does help deal with incoming spins. If you don't loop at all with your forehand, I would actually suggest gipfelsturm over keiler as it is more forgiving against different spins. Although, it is kind of like a long pip at times in that you can hit through backspin effectively. It's nothing close to a low grip long pip though. |

I find Keiler easier to use on the backhand as its low throw makes it difficult to clear net on forehand with inverted type strokes. As an in-between I would recommend you try Warran on the fh in 1.5 or 1.8mm as it uses the same sponge as Keiler but it's grippier short pips will allow you to use more inverted type strokes. Also the slightly greater disruptive effect of Keiler compared to Warran may help confuse opponents more than using Keiler on both sides Have a look at the Spinlord Cherupkin videos as he uses Warran on the f/h and Gipfelsturm on the b/h to great effect. |
