As with any balsa blade, the weight varies quite a bit. We have a bunch in stock in the shop, and I remember weighing some of them at less than 50g!

TSP Versal is discontinued, not sure if they'll bring it out under the Victas brand.

I have 3 of the 7.0 Black Balsas, all under 65g. Example below - the others have rubber on

The versal is the only blade I bought in the last year. The weight was the reason I wanted it. You'd think that weight gives speed but it seems to be the stiffness/hardness in this case. Or possibly you feel like the weight-to-speed ratio is not in sync with previous thoughts about most other blades.

I have tried tons of different rubbers on it. I ultimately find nothing feels right on it. It reminds me in this 'blade that can't be matched' quality to my very expensive Timo Boll ZLF. Try a million rubbers on it and I might find something that plays better but generally those same rubbers feel better on another blade.

I was trying to find the outer ply wood... anyone know? On revspin it says hinoki, but the surface is far from what seems to be hinoki.

The main things I don't like about the versal is the crashing sound on hard shots. But that's in a few different balsa blades.
The worst seems to be a sense of one-dimensionality. It doesn't seem to have more than one gear. It's just quick with zero flex.
The thickness of the whole blade feels kind of awkward. The handle is also annoying. They stuck those bits of wood in there to stop it getting compressed, yes you can squeeze this enough to do that. But that takes feeling away... I want the majority of fibres to lead all the way down to my hand so I know where I'm hitting it sweetly.

So ultimately it's the quickest blade to hold and plays fast but with poor quality feeling. It makes you learn why momentum in strokes is more important.

My TSP Black Balsa 7.0 - 59g

I stopped using my Versal a year or so ago and now use Buterfly Innerforce ZLC.

Last night on my forehand I put a Joola Energy Extra red rubber on the Versal just to see.......

The Joola rubber is very soft but surprisingly quick as in real quick.

Not much in the way of topsin but my forehand drives were bottoming out somewhat and the trajectory was lower than most pips.

Never used a smooth rubber than can flat hit like this one.

Throw angle against incoming topspin seems very shallow which I also liked.

Really good for fast dead serves into opponents body.

Tried it on another blade and could not flat drive anywhere near as good.

The Joola Green Power Extra rubber is made for this blade on the forehand but only if you lift the ball at a shallow angle. No good for heavy loopers.

Short pip players on the forehand it should be a seamless transition.

I use Hurricane 3 on the backhand.
