Sauer & Tröger have released two new blades, and have agreed to answer any questions here in this thread.

Firestarter Blade - (Price: 49,90 €)
"Maximum control paired with maximum cut and effect!!!"

The FIRESTARTER takes the power for attacking shots and enables you to more effect-rich attacks and a very accurate shot-game. Because of the woods low speed, it is especially useful for players with fast pimple rubbers. In addition it is great for all the players, who had a hard time defending topspin balls.

Image

We recommend following two playing styles/systems:

a) Blocking and spreading the balls close to the table (OX)

b) Defending far away from the table with pimples with sponge

The distinguished veneers were handpicked by Sebastian Sauer and Pascal Tröger. Since the wood was dried and stocked over extended periods of time, it keeps its playing abilities over long periods of time. After conducting many lenghty test, both designers were able to use the new CBIF adherence. The CBIF adherence makes the forehand a bit faster and the veneer adherence makes the backhand a bit slower.

NOTEL: Because of the CBIF adherence the forehand is a bit faster than the backhand.

Size: 16 cm x 15,8 cm (Height x Width)
Veneers: 5
Handle: straight
Playing system: DEF/AR
Weight: ca. 84g
Speed:Forehand: 46, Backhand: 40
Control: Forehand: 101, Backhand: 115

Zeus Blade (Price: 128,90 €)

It was our utmost goal to create a high-class racket for modern defensive players, no matter the costs in terms of development and material. The result is ZEUS. We proudly present this masterpiece. It is named after Zeus, the Greek father of the gods, which was only logical with what it represents.

Image

The racket fits perfect to long-pimple-rubber Sauer&Tröger HELLFIRE. We highly recommend this racket for the allrounder playing close to the table as well as for the defender.

The ZEUS is made of the wood of the japanese royal paulownia and two additional veneers made from ideal UD carbon. The outside veneer manufactured from the japanese Kiso Hinoki make this combination perfect. We were discoured from creating the ZEUS because of the very high, some might even say too high, manufacturing costs. But because of the excellent playing abilities of this wood, we just had to do it. Since the ZEUS is made of really scarce raw material, it is possible that we temporarily might not be able to satisfy the customer's demand.

Reference: Because of the CBIF adherence the forehand is a bit faster than the backhand.

Size: 16 cm x 15,8 cm (Height x Width)
Veneers: 5
Handle: straight & conic
Playing system: AR / AR+
Speed Forehand: 67, Backhand: 61
Control Forehand: 87, Backhand: 92
Weight: ca. 91g

Please compare their performance such as speed with some popular def blade such as defplay or VKM.

how does firestarter pair with hellfire ox?
Also with hellfire 0.9?

Yes I think that's right, as these are the terms we've been using. Of course if you have not tried them, any other commonly used blades comparison would be useful too.

Thanks, Haggisv. For defplay, I refer to non Classic version because I think it more popular than the Classic especially in OOAK forum and I have one ;)

The combination with Hellfire OX and works also very well. We have some customers who have played these combinations and we have got a positive feedback. You have got a lot of control with these combination.
The sponge is a medium / soft sponge.

The Zeus is faster than the Defplay and the Matsushita blade. With its carbon layers it is harder than the other two blades. Especially for players who play near the table it is a better choice.

The Firestarter has the same speed on FH like the Matsushita blade and it is a little bit faster like the DEF play. On the BH it is slower than both blades. As we have played the Firestarter in our tests, we have noticed that we could play with a lot of famous long pimples and it worked very well.

Hi there
do you have any more reviews /users, as I have a friend who a high level player (top 20 in Country) who uses D techs and any spinny fast Euro rubber but stays at the table with chop blocks angles and forehand spin
so he wants a true 2 speed blade

How to identify which side of the blade is faster or slower? Is the side with brand label on the handle slower and the side with model label (Firestarter) faster?

The side with the ZEUS plate is the slower one.
The side with the FIRESTARTER blade is the slower one.

If you play on a higher level it makes sense to choose the ZEUS. It is harder and faster. So you have more options for attacking.
The Grass D-Tecs also works very well with the ZEUS.

There are some reviews in the German table tennis communities Noppentest and Pimp my blade. But there are a lot of players who already play with the new blades and they don´t read or write in table tennis communities.
