Hi guys,
I have been seeing some blades, mostly andro blades. I have a few blades in mind,
andro® HI LOOM OFF
andro® CS V CARBON OFF++
andro® TREIBER Z OFF
I am a bit confused which blade to pick and do not know exactly how they are different. I have heard great things about "andro® TREIBER Z OFF". But according to megaspin andro have newer blades than that. Do you think "andro® HI LOOM OFF" or "andro® CS V CARBON OFF++" will be a better alternative for "TREIBER Z"?

Newer blades are not necessarily better. I would more likely pick a blade that's been around for a while and has some good reviews.
Why restrict your choices to Andro?. Plenty of other good stuff around ;) I heard that many of the older Andro blades were under-size, which always put me off Andro. Not sure if the new stuff is more regular size though.

What is your standard of play, they are all pretty fast blades and might not suit your style.

I have used the andro kinetic supreme kiso hinok off - blaðe. It's owned by an ex-team mate of mine and it was relatively easy and nice to use. A criticism of the blaðe was that it had a small sweet spot relative to other carbon blaðes and my mate had a wrap on the handle since it found the straight handle too small. From the reviews of the triber z off it refers back to that blaðe as possibly a follow on from it. The kinetic supremes hinoki is now discontinued.

If you are looking for a decent blaðe that would be priced around the Andro blaðes that you're looking at and you're ready for a carbon blaðe the timo boll spirit butterfly blaðe would be worth looking at if you're OK with a 90 gram weight. There is the TB ALC at 85 gram but personally I wasn't mad about it. The andro blaðes are nicely finished but I'm not too sure I would buy one. Can't think of anyone bar my ex-teammate who would be using one.

Also if you see anything described as OFF+ or OFF++ i would probably steer clear of them. Elite players stick with OFF or OFF- blaðes. For developing players too fast a blaðe can develop a bad habit of half stroking the ball.

Thanks guys
I am not restricting my self to andro. It is just that I have $130 budget for my blade.

An I am open to suggestions. I play a bit aggressively. But you guys are right about using the fast blades. I should pick an off blade. Because with my current blade sometimes I have to play a half shot to put the ball in board.

Blade: 729 HS Champion carbon
FH: Razka X max, black
BH: SavigaV LP 1.0 red/green
The decision process in my mind is
1. What general speed to control ratio do I want.
2. All wood vs carbon vs modified carbon-acrylate other
3. Hard vs. Soft
4. Flex vs. Stiff
5. Price.

Great guidance,

1. defiantly control: 90+ speed 75-85 (All+ / Off)
2. I don't have much clue here the blade I am using is a 3ply with carbon, which seems a bit fast for me.
3. Medium but more toward softer
4. A bit flexy
5. price < $130

How about the following blades?

Butterfly Innerforce Layer AL https://www.megaspin.net/store/default.asp?pid=b-innerforce-l-al
Butterfly Hadraw VK https://www.megaspin.net/store/default.asp?pid=b-hadraw-vk
Andro HiLoom https://www.megaspin.net/store/default.asp?pid=andro-hiloom

Get a Yinhe N11, only $11 or so..

(And if you don't like it you still have $119 left over to spend on something else... )

Iskandar, any idea how N-11 is different from N-10? That's what I'm using now, coming full circle in the last 2 years or so.

P.S. Apologies for thread hijack.

To the OP.

You have mentioned that the blade you are currently using seems a bit fast for you - 3 ply with carbon (3 + 2 I take it). And it looks like the main reason you want a new blade is because you want more control.

What rubbers are you currently using and how thick are they?

And what blade is it?

The N-10 is quite a bit heavier. An acquaintance has one, haven't hit much with it. The N-11 weighs very close to 80g and is about 6.5mm thick. Don't know why I like the N-11 so much, I keep going back to it. It's proved to be rather fast compared to, say, the Nittaku Septear, the Stiga Allround Classic, the Yinhe W-6. Great touch for over the table play, nice feel for loops, but I like it mainly for the crisp drives and kills.

I think I will go with Innerforce Layer AL. It seem slow enough with good control. I might pick hexer duro with this.

If you can try out a blade before you buy it - that would be the ideal situation. Have never tried a IF AL but it's probably in stark contrast to a IF ZLC which has tons of feedback / vibration but for most it's too fast a blade.
At least the IF AL has limba as it's outer pile.
Would be interested to hear how you get on with your choice of blade.

I would agree in the case of expensive blades. In the case of cheap blades, heck, BUY FIRST..

Iskandar (who has two tote bags full of cheap blades..)
