For shakehand twiddling, which is better conic or straight?

I'm thinking about switching from ph to sh.

Never use conic, but my conjecture, it play like flared.

So I vote for Straight easier for twiddle.

when using Flared, the butt in the way of twiddling, get stuck on my palm.

Can a conic or flared be sanded down so it is easier to twiddle like a straight handle ?

"straight" is better for twiddling.
"straight" SH blade can be used a bit as a CPen blade if you want to switch between PH and SH using the same blade.

Well, that will:
- Leave You with a straighter handle
- Defeat the purpose of flared handle in the first place, to stay firm on player hand

I'm familiar with flared, straight and anatomic however you also see conic and concave. Are these just different names for flared or something different again?

"Conic", I think, is like Flared except the sides are straight rather than curved. Like a cone. "Concave", I think, is another word for Flared. Mainly used by German and Swedish companies.

I understand that we are all unique snowflakes, and that it's personal preference. I twiddle a lot, and don't really find that one has a clear advantage over the other. (FL, CON, or ST).

I can get used to all of them. I think moving forward, I'll prefer FL handle because it gives you more security and gives you added reference for how far up or down your hand is on the handle. This is important if you over-twiddle like I do.

In some ways I think that FL and Conical handles are a very slight advantage because it encourages you to grip towards the blade and encourages pincing the rubbers and not gripping the handle. But if you favor a lower grip (meaning, lower on the handle) then you'll want a ST. Handle gripping encouranges wrist stiffness though, so we probably shouldn't grip low on the handle.

Even though you've decided, gus_goose, I thought I'd add my opinion anyway:
I prefer flared handles - I agree with Japsican, but the main reason I like flared handles is they seem to stop me from dropping the bat while twiddling!

ST, FL or CO: each of these handles have their advantages (I will never understand why companies produce AN handles, which don`t fit for 95% of all players, because their hands are too small or too big for the AN curves). I have tested hundreds of blades in the last 10 years and I clearly prefer ST if I have to choose between these handles, but in all this time I have found 2 blades with VERY comfortable FL handles, which seem to be the perfect compromise between ST and FL, with all the advantages of these (FL and ST) handles.





The FL handles of Nittaku Tenor and Nexy Arirang are thicker in the middle part and not too wide at the end. I would call them "moderate FL" and I think, each ST and FL player is able to play with these handles. Normally it would be enough, if each company would produce only one single handle like this.

I had a chance to try various AN blades and so far I never found one I don't like. But so far not quite many less than a dozen AN blades, because of the limited chance of getting AN handles on the blades that I like to have or try.
