I tried looking up "V Market" on Google Maps - the only one that came up was near the Victory Monument. Is the V Market near Suvarnabhumi near a stop on the Airport Rail Link? Or do you have GPS coordinates?

Ouch! That's seven or eight km from the Lat Krabang train station. Getting to the train station isn't difficult, but after that.. I suppose there's always Grab.. or one of those motorbike taxis. I suppose if there were a hotel out that way.. (hmmm.. I suppose I could look it up). Wonder what that Suvarnabhumi Flea Market is like.

The place I usually go to play (on Ramkhangkhaeng) is a lot closer to town, but is also a hassle to get to - it involves buses or the river taxi (both really bad during the rush hour) and some walking. I think the stadium nearby is probably where they'll be having the Olympics Qualifying Tournament in April. Costs 30 baht to play all evening, but it's not airconditioned and it's very random in terms of how much you get to play and with whom.

I did find the club. You can even see a Sanwei blade or two on the wall..

They have a web site... and they.. do.. mail.. order! There's even an M8 combo for sale.

Yeah, seems offtopic, but this might help me track down a M8 with a ST handle..

I have no idea. Nor have I any idea of how one measures a sweet spot. Anyone know?

You bounce a ball on the bare blade, right in the centre. Then bounce it about 2cm away from the centre (towards the side or tip). Compare the two bounces, they should be the same height. Repeat that process until you reach the edge of the blade and you can tell how big the sweet spot is. Towards the edge the bounce will become much lower.

This is one of the most important things about a blade. There are some expensive blades from 'good' brands that have miniscule sweet spots, with the ball bouncing high in the middle and completely dead (no bounce at all) just 2 - 4 cm away from it, and some cheap blades from 'budget' brands that have large sweet spots. It's hard to tell without testing it in-person.

The problem with small sweet spots as I described is that the ball trajectory is very unpredictable from shot to shot. The short game will be inconsistent, and looping will be inaccurate, etc. You can imagine what kind of negative effect a poor blade will have on a developing (or developed) player. Allround blades are usually the worst. It's difficult to find an allround blade that is constructed properly, most brands don't invest any money into constructing them properly.

This sounds like an interesting experiment to try, actually. And it's fairly objective, and you can easily design equipment to quantify it.
