Post subject:  Nittaku Flame Carbon vs Butterfly Viscaria

I would like to buy a blade as a gift for my friend but need some insight. His current setup is a Nittaku Flame Carbon with Nittaku Fastarc S-1 on both sides. I was wondering how a Butterfly Viscaria compares to his blade or are there similar blades to his but better attributes. I believe his next rubbers would be Tibhar MX-P because he really liked them when he tested some.

Why not just get him another Flame Carbon? Ask him what the weight of his blade was, order something close to that weight. Some vendors will actually try to supply a blade of the weight you ask for.

Well he's actually mentioned that he doesn't like it very much, but it gets the job done for him lol. His setup in hand feels very light. Looking at stats Flame Carbon averages 85 grams rated as OFF- and Viscaria averages 90 grams rated as OFF. I also thought of asking for the lightest blade if possible.

Aha... so you DON'T want something similar. Yup, the Viscaria would be a little heavier. The reason I thought the weight would be important is to get a matched pair of blades. But that only works with two of the same kind.

Rather an expensive gift..
