I know some defensive blades use Black-Cloth layers, which I assume is used to absorb some of the impact of the ball, making it suitable for defensive play.
I know TSP had some blades that used it, but these were all discontinued. I can only think off one, that's still made, which is the Joola Chen Weixing Blade (CWX), which I believe uses it on both sides.

What other blades use this Black-Cloth layer, and do they have this layer on both sides of the blade?

What were they?

On the original subject, I also can't think of any beside CWX.

The Neva Giva Magic Wall has it, I believe. Great blocking blade, oversized, designed for LPs. Shameless plug: I have one in perfect condition, ready to sell if anyone wants it!

What were they?

I think it was the "TSP Reflex" series.

Thank you. Yes I've heard good things about this blade, and I've actually got NevaGiva Magic Wall 2 coming in to test, which is what prompted this thread.
I'm not sure what the difference is between yours and this new one, from what I read the Magic Wall 2 is a little faster.

I thought the Reflex series has dampening rubber/sponge-like layer in (between) the handle.

It does indeed, but it also has some black layers between the plies... but I can't find any information on whether they're actually black cloth, so I could be wrong.

Very useful blades to play close to the table, ideally will be with only one sided black cloth.

DONIC CLASSIC Offensive have black cloth BF3

What exactly is this "black cloth"? Something like cotton, or polyester? Is it impregnated with resin? Carbon fiber, aramid, etc. is usually used in the form of a woven cloth, I'm pretty sure this isn't what this is. I can imagine a layer of something like cotton would dampen the rebound qualities of a blade, if it was left unimpregnated it would have even more of an effect, and if were REALLY thick (think of denim, for instance) it'd have a huge effect.

Could be soft carbon?

I'm not sure what the difference is between yours and this new one, from what I read the Magic Wall 2 is a little faster.

I watched one the WRM videos on the Magic Wall 2, (the original MW has been discontinued) and if I remember correctly, it's somewhat smaller and yes, faster. I find the Magic Wall fast enough, good on the FH and very stable, even for looping, but it's massive. Dinner plate big! I attack more with my FH so though I loved the BH with pips, I found it unwieldy. But for someone who likes to block at the table, mostly BH, it's great. Said to be good with Fric anti as well though I can't vouch. Shameless plug, finished!
