During weighing, holding, taking photos... A thought occured to me... Not problem with weight or shape per se.. But the distance of the rubbers from my hand.

When I played with the mini blade I many times missed the ball or hit the edge of the blade... I assume due to the closeness of the rubbers to my hand. I used to hitting the middle uppper part of the rubber/blade...

With the Skull I should be hitting on the area just right below the rubbers or on the lower part of the rubbers if based on the position of the regular blades/rubbers.

With sometime I probably could hit with the blade just nicely... But when I switch back to regular blades there will be some adjustment again...

Hhhhmmmm.... Will have to wait and see of course, but this is my preliminary thought on the blade...

Cheers...

EDIT:
1. 3 pictures added, can't decided which one to post so i put all three... help to decide only one if you may...
2. Scratch my preliminary thought above about not hitting at the proper area. I had a brief hit today with the blade. Not once I hit below the rubbers or on the bottom part of the rubbers...

That is a truly unusual bat! But the proof is in the playing! I love the look of the wood! Smell nice? :D

rokphish,

I am glad you received the Skull blade successfully.

Yes you would not want to play with the Skull blade
within say a month of a tournament or a match you
want to win. :)

Also just to let the forum readers know the Skull was
a quick prototype that I did not take a lot of time to
fine sand etc. I just quickly rough cut it out to see
how such a blade would play. In other words my regular
blades are much better in quality.

guitarpug

The wood has very little if any smell. It takes on a certain
sheen to it when sealed and looks quite different. Also It
is an extremely light wood.

Very interesting Rok! I would be interested to know how much the bounce changed depending on where you hit the ball. Apart from variations in the wood grain, the shape must have quite an impact as well?

What the   :o :o :drunken: :drunken:

It looks like a shake blade stuck on the end of a half jpen blade. Might be useful if you needed to canoe to the club to play!

Must have quite some wind resistance to swing it. I would have thought hitting on the "wings" would be illegal, but I assume this is not a bat you'd use in a comp anyway, so I guess it wouldn't matter.

The blade smells a bit. :? I still prefer the sweet smell of kiso hinoki over this blade...

I'm too lazy at the moment to get up and do the bounce test on the various area of the blade/rubbers... I'll get back to this later...

The blade is actually made based on jpen + shakehand according to the maker... Who knows if indeed it becomes handy as an oar... Sometimes certain parts of the city flooded during long heavy rain...

I only thought little of the wind resistance as I don't think it would matter much. Based on today's brief hit, it's not really the matter on the FH strokes. BH strokes didn't go as fluently but not due to wind resistance but the shape/dimension instead...
