My sheet of 07 sticky extra has arrived. I ordered it in 2mm as I'm mounting onto a Re-Impact Tachi. I really hope it's not as bouncy in the short game as Rising Dragon. I'll post my findings here.

Not trying to hijack the post , which Victas rubber has the best spin without having a hard sponge ?

Thanks

I remember the V01 Limber is really spinney. The VS 402 Limber probably is too.

I'm convinced, by the way, that Evolution rubbers are actually made in Japan.

Evolution rubbers have the same smell of bluefire rubers, and on the sponge have the same type of letters of all ESN rubbers.
they want you to think that the rubber is not just another ESN one, if it was made in japan it will have a BIG made in japan on the front of the package.

I think the sheet size trumps the smell.. It's a good 1cm longer that ESN sheets. Not sure why Tibhar's coy about where the rubber's being made, but they are. They don't put "Made in Germany" on it, either. Maybe components are made in different places, perhaps even in China, and assembled in Japan ("Made in China" would be a BIG downer... ). Maybe they want the freedom to switch suppliers without anyone knowing about it. In any case, only Tibhar really knows.

Sorry to hear that Fish! :( :( :(

Was it your playing arm?

Hope you recover quickly!

Thanks Haggisv and v100ev. My recovery is going remarkably well. It was a radial head fracture on my non playing arm. They are not treated in a plaster cast, as the fracture is stable. This means you can move the joint without causing damage but at the moment it is still stiff and painful to do so and I’m currently unable to turn my palm up which obviously isn’t ideal when trying to serve! It takes 6 weeks to fully heal and it only happened a little over two weeks ago, but as it’s my non playing arm, I’m hoping to have a knock up in the next week or so.

Were there any takers for the free samples? Looking forward to reading the reviews.

looking towards the reviews as well, especially VJ>07 Regular

crazy low price in tt-japan, VJ>07 Regular costs 2800 yen compared to Mark V costs 2580 yen :whew:

according to Victas themselves its a rubber for allround players, so im pretty interested

That is weird:

https://tt-japan.net/index.php?main_pag ... ilter_id=0

It wouldn't be weird if all the Victas rubbers were close to the same price, but 07 Regular is 2800 yen, 07 Limber and Stiff are 3360 yen, 07 Sticky Extra is 3840 yen, while everything else is over 4000, with V15 Limber being 5100 yen. What, by the way, do 01, 07, 15 and 402 refer to????

If I visit Japan it'd be interesting to find out what Tenergy 05 costs... for obvious reasons tt-japan isn't selling Butterfly to people outside Japan.

So basically the curiosity won and I bougth a sheet of the Sticky Extra in Max thickness.
Yesterday was my first day playing with it. For now I can say that it's relatively light (lighter than the Tuttle 55 A and the Battle 2 for sure), it has some tackiness and it behaves like a normal Chinese tacky rubber.
And it's a bit slow for my liking when smashing. But, maybe, the sponge needs some time to break - don't know.
First impression is that it plays similar to the Apollo 5(36 degree version) on my blade but the 07 is a little faster and the Apollo grabbed the ball better. The 07 has very good spin capabilities, chopping with it seamed easy and the service game was very nice. But I'll need some time to get used to it and to see if breaks or not :)
Also it was my second serious training session after 3 months of injury recovery so I don't feel the ball very well for now :)

Looks like the entire 401/402 line are tacky rubbers. Why did they also make a tacky 07? Interesting that TT11 also price 07 Regular cheaper than the other rubbers.

Besides having a tacky surface, 401 has a very hard sponge and horizontal pip alignment and is marketed as a tensor that is especially suited for chopping while still having good attacking potential.

I haven't tried it, so I offer no comment on whether the aforementioned combination of tacky topsheet, very hard but boosted sponge and horizontally aligned pips actually makes it do what it says on the tin.

402 is supposed to be a tensor for allround play. Again, no idea how well it works, but at least Victas positions it differently than the V 07 rubbers, which are marketed more for pure attacking from what I can tell.

When you put it like that, 401 does sound like H3 with the booster already added.. More of a Ma Long rubber than a chopping rubber.
