Tried a fairly old sheet of Tibhar FXS 2mm black on my Bloodhound blade and it played quite well. Fast enough, linear, reasonably spinny and very positive in the short game, not too hard not too soft.

Clearly although the topsheet was in good condition the sponge was quite poor and had lost most of its factory boosting so I am very reluctant to just buy a new sheet of FXS as it may end up being too fast and bouncy on the fairly hard & fast Bloodhound, as was a new sheet of Rhyser 43 which I made an expensive mistake on.

So any suggestions on what I could try as medium hard spinny alternative to an old FXS 2mm perhaps with a slightly higher throw to counteract the low throw of the Bloodhound blade. I would probably have just left the FXS on the blade but it was slightly undersized and the wrong colour as I use black MP on the BH! Did think about buying FXS but in 1.8mm. Aurus select which I use on another blade felt a bit hard on the Bloodhound, whilst Euro df was much too soft for my fairly direct close to the table style.

Maybe you could buy a sheet of FX-S, and then allow someone else to play with it for a while? Just make sure his bat's the same size as yours...

As for the current sheet - yeah, the color is a problem, but why should a (slightly) undersize sheet matter? Have we become so persnickety about a little wood showing around the rubber?

FX-S is perfectly playable and LOUD even without retuning.

Maybe what I am really asking is what sort of fall off in speed boosted rubbers like the evolution series will typically show after say 12 months medium use. 10%, 20%, 30% ?

A good advert for Tenergy :cash: For this reason I am thinking of trying Rozena which is supposed to be quite durable and is barely more expensive than MXP etc.

Mind you, I've heard that Tenergy similarly goes dead and shrinks in a short period of time (not sure how long). All the Tensors I've tried do likewise. I guess it's the price one pays for factory boosting...

Last year I've been playing with Tibhar Aurus Sound. I think it's about the same as FX-S, maybe a bit less springier? You can produce nice spin with it. Regular Aurus is a little bit harder and faster and is also quite good for short game IMO. Regular Aurus 1.9 might work for you
