Gambler Reflectoid is the only inverted rubber I've used for years. I think what makes it unique was a kind of dampening sponge that allows for really good control, plus it helped slow down the long pips on the other side of my blade.

Anyway, I just found out that 1) Gambler Reflectoid is being discontinued. 2) Gambler didn't renew the ITTF approval so it's banned from competition effective December 31.

Therefore I have just a little over two months to find a replacement. I have no idea what would be comparable. Any suggestions?

You're using it in 1.0mm? Going to be hard to find something that thin and similar. Maybe Spinlord Marder? It's available in 1mm. Not quite the same level of tackiness though.

It's a real shame it's discontinued, I thought it was quite popular.

Donic Slice comes to mind as an alternative... I don't think it has a dampening sponge, but it does share some of the properties of Reflectoid.

I suggest you try Nittaku Moristo DF 1.2 . It´s the one I am using currently and I find it a great alternative . The sponge is soft , the rubber is versatile and it does make my lp slower . :) .The only problem is that it is not as cheap as Reflectoid but it is durable :) .

Donic Slice is also a great option . ;)

How undurable is it? How durable woult is have to be? Can't be THAT bad, can it?

I suppose there's also Reactor Ckylin - problem is getting it in anything other than Max Sponge.

In the English language, "recently discontinued" is not the same or even close to "obsolete" .

Your post raises the idea of going custom from Colestt.com. He could match a tacky topsheet (999 isn't getting discontinued any time soon :D ) with a slower, thin sponge.

at 13/ 15 € per sheet ,GD submarine is a great, cheap option here . It does not last so long ..... I do not say GD SUB is bad . Maybe the durability is similar to Reflectoid? so people stock up on it ,...

Durability for me means not replacing the rubber frequently ,.... after some time the SUB loses the spin ability and the chopping is poor ,...that SOME time is a personal interpretation I am not going into   , Iskandar, I like the way you question the posts ,....

What I meant was... how long do the sheets last? Two months? Six months? One week? I'd say one or two months would be reasonable if the rubber is cheap. One week would be really bad.

As far as 999 disappearing... about three quarters of the sheets sold as "999" HAVE disappeared, and fairly recently. Sheets sold by Globe (and sheets from other companies using the Globe topsheet) are still available, but all those $5 sheets from the 999 Company are gone. No longer in the LARC and no longer available on Eacheng.

Nice list. Just be careful with some of these, the LKT rubbers for instance, make sure to get the KTL versions, since the LKT don't seem to be listed anymore. Same with some that have been updated like the Galaxy Venus, that is now listed as 022 Maxtense Venus. And Xiom Musa comes in versions I, II, and III now, I'm not sure which was being recommended below. You don't want to end up in the same boat again, looking for another replacement after finding something that works for you.

Yeah, companies have, for a while now, been slowly replacing their old "unnumbered" logo sheets with versions with new logos that have numbers but are otherwise identical. But significant stocks of the old "unnumbered" versions exist, which is why you'll see older sheets without number AND newer sheets (with the same name) listed together in the same LARC. I suppose when stocks (both at the manufacturer and with large dealers) run out they move those unnumbered sheets to the "only valid until" list. In the case of KTL, they decided to move all their "LKT" branded stuff to KTL, since maintaining two brands was confusing (anyone know how it actually got started??). Now it looks like, for rubbers, they've completed the process. You might actually be able to find some LKT rubbers with some of the smaller dealers but there won't be much in stock and it'll be unlikely you'll actually come across any.
