Blade: Victas Koji Offensive
FH: Hurricane 3 neo 2.1 black
BH: Victas P1V 1.5 red
Is Victas V15 extra a good rubber on a defensive blade like vkm or diode/joo for chopping on forehand for player around 1000-1500 USATT lv?

Hashimoto Honoka chops with it, so it should be OK..

There's a WHOLE THREAD about V15 Extra, by the way.... maybe do a search before making a new one?

Victas VS>401 and VS>402 are made specifically for chopping.

Blade: Stiga Defensive Classic
FH: Victas V>15 Extra 2.0
BH: Stiga Vertical 20 0.5
I started using it a few months back, as a cheaper alt to tenergy. It's quite fast without too much feel, although you can make it work. Quite a few choppers use it, will definitely take a bunch of practice. For me starting with softer rubbers like rasanter v42 or even Rozena was helpful to build confidence with the fh chop. 1.9 is good if you are learning the stroke. Blade can make a big difference too

If you FH chop a lot, no.
If your technical level and your footwork is good enough and if you are alert to counter attack immediately, then using a thick, spinny and fast attacking rubber like V15 Extra for both chopping and attacking may be beneficial.
Otherwise these kind of rubbers are not mainly for chopping and even the highest level choppers with these kind of rubbers (Tenergies, other tensors etc.) are not able to chop more than 1-2 times against good spinny loops, ball flies away. Successful chopping with these kind of rubbers require being enough far away from the table and maintaining to be in very good position.
Assuming you FH chop a lot, except self sabotaging oneself with using a V15 for chopping even on a defensive blade, here are some options for consistent chopping with spin variations and so much better control for an allround game. With these options you still have more than enough power at least for once in a while attacking:
- 1.5 or 1.8 mm. Victas 401 on VKM
- 1.3 or 1.5 Butterfly Tackiness Chop on Joo Se Hyuk or Diode.
Otherwise I'd go H3 on VKM instead of V15.

I could write a thesis paper here but I will keep it short. V15 has been my main rubber for at least 3 years, on Joo Saehyu, then vkmo and now on Diode V blade. Is it good for chopping? Yes, absolutely. It's not as bouncy and more linier than a typical tenergy or MXP but it's still very fast. Now , is it good for your level? I don't think so, at least not V15 extra. I would recommend to start with V15 limber in 2.0 and work your way up as you develop your technique and skill. V15 Extra is a powerful hard offensive rubber that requires a certain level to be used effectively.
