Post subject:  Condition of my yinhe mercury-II rubber.
hi All,
i have played for only 2 month with my mercury-2 rubber [RED] and this is the current condition of it [looks very greasy and dirty].
i have tried cleaning it with andro rubber cleaner and water manny times!! but no use, which tend me to think it is not the dirt/dust or some grease...it is the rubber material which as deformed/damaged, am correct?

is there something i am missing or it is the expected behaviour of the yinhe mercury rubbers?

the other rubber [black, cornilleau GT-pro] is much older than mercury-2 but is very fine!

Usually Chinese rubbers will get lot of scuff marks and get surface discoloration due to contact with other surfaces like hands towels shirt shorts. Nothing but superficial blemish does not affect rubber performance or properties.

Also use normal tepid water.and.clean dry hands to maintain AFTER play sesssion is over. Use non-sticky protector sheets.

Euro and Jap rubbers normally require foam cleaners or rubber cleaning solutions. Chinese rubbers might get damaged so sorry for your loss there doing something you weren't supposed to do.

Next time just use plain water, not mineral himalayan water or some other crazy stuff. JUST use H2O at room temperature and normal atmosphere

If you keep rubbing and scrubbing it no wonder it looks like that.. :lol: Just use plain water, wipe it off with the palm of your hand and shake dry. 2 months in it should still be playing pretty well even if it looks ugly. It's probably lost a fair amount of the initial tackiness but this is normal. The tackiness is just a layer of glue applied to the surface, it'll wear off fairly quickly.

You can get Mercury II for little more than USD5 a sheet including shipping, so no big deal, just order a couple more sheets if you feel it's deteriorated too much.

really! is the tackiness is layer of the glue?
i thought it is some intrinsic property of the tacky rubber [like any chemical property] and also read it online that it to be its property only.

can you point to any blog/video to check tackiness is really a glue layer?

in capacity of a racket control supervisor I am to discourage you from entering table tennis events till you get a better rubber.

seems there is some adhesive polythene sheet is glued to both the rubbers...

I'm waiting for a sheet of 999 Super 999T and I'll post a video. Until then, I have my black Neo Hurricane 3 which lifts the ball easily and a training bat with a sheet of Kokutaku 868 Bluttenkirsche which are also very fine.

I seen a bat like yours, with Hurricane 3, the grip and tackyness were not affected. I think it's been exposed to the sun light.

yes it seems to me tackiness and grip are not affected.

I have never left it to the direct sunlight but sometimes i have left it open without cover on sofa or table after play..
is it still harmful [direct air or too much light]?

is it too bad to get rejected at any table tennis events?

On amateur level you won't be rejected for this and even on pro level I have doubts since the original properties aren't modified :D, the guy was joking. Your rubber is fine, use it untill it loses it's tackyness and find some plastic foil like this as a cover, it's very cheap and useful for chinese rubbers

Here, in Romania, on amateur level the only case of banned player I've heard was a guy who had an old bad, the ruber was almost unglued on the backhand side and he was putting his fingers underneath the rubber. He protested, and he had some arguments, because he was accepted at other previous events, though :)))Image
