I'm starting to hear some manufacturers are now making different colour rubbers. I heard from Victas that from Oct 1st 2021, they'll release a blue version of they Victas V > 15 Extra, and pink versions of their Ventus rubbers.

I also notice the ITTF have added these options to the rubber colours:

COLORS: R= red, B= black, G= green, Bu= blue, P= purple/pink, V= violet

has anyone else seen rubbers of the new colours being released yet?

Not gonna lie, how is this exactly changing the game?

I mean, the rule is still the same, like, 2 sides must be different in color

But a long pips in green would seem more "poisonous"

And an SP is blue will look "swift"

Anti in pink definitely gives "strange" feeling

< Definitely would buy a green LP, and blue (if possible light blue) SP >

[SMIRKING FACE]

But, financial-wise, the company will experience "tendency" issues (majority of consumers buying a certain color only)

PIPS-OUT (Uranus) GREEN

But the price is sure 4x the normal variant

CHROMATIC DIFFERENTIATION BETWEEN TYPES OF THE RUBBERS.
BRIEF INTRODUCTION INTO THE SUBJECT.

Our Lord dispensed "warning coloration" to all toxic creatures in the World. Hence, we can now see toxic toads in blue, and toxic gnats in pink. This is the surest way for us to instantly differentiate a toxic specie from an innocent one.
With the view to better benefit all our table tennis players, we have determined the specific colorations to be mandatory for rubbers of Anti and Long Pips types. Rubbers of the types are known deliberately used by players as destructive & deceptive materials. Those rubber materials are deemed to be a very close analogue to the toxic toads as aforesayed. The "toxic" rubbers should have a permanent warning coloration easy to recognize at play, -for the sake of fair play, -we believe it is salutary for our sport.
-- Anti's all shall be in blue + black + red (limited validity)
-- Long Pips all in pink + black + red (limited validity)

Below is the graphical Chart of valid colours.

Octopus has been out for a long time (I had a yellow sheet of it a while back). It's not ITTF approved, incidentally. The green Uranus is newer, though. Remember Bernadette Szocs using a pink sheet?

As far as I know there's only four additional colors allowed, and you still have to use black on one side (unless they've changed that part of it). As per Haggis's post - yellow doesn't seem to be one of the options.

Thanks for the link. I downloaded their catalog, there's some interesting stuff to read and compare in there. One thing I found interesting.. there's NO MENTION whatsoever of Evolution MX-K.. Looks like you can only buy it from Nexy. Tibhar won't even admit it exists...

WELL BEGUN IS HALF DONE

Under initial phase of the Project, ITTF will stop auithorization of newly developed rubbers of Anti Spin type in red and black. All the Anti rubbers intended for authorization will have to come solely in blue colour.

Likewise, ITTF will stop auithorization of newly developed rubbers of LP type in red and black. All the LP rubbers intended for authorization will have to come solely in pink.

THE "TOXIC RUBBERS". WHAT IS IT ?
Road to success is always under construction, you must know.

The recent decision by ITTF to allow a massive release of rubbers of 4 more colours onto market should be a very challenging experience. It is an untrotten path so far, and some mishaps and failures may well occur there. However, we must go on improving towards the best reasonable colour scheme. The proposed restriction of colour selection for the "toxic" rubbers of LP and ANTI types should make a lot for the good of the sport, we believe strongly.

Question people asking foremost:
Q. - How do you construe the term of "toxic rubber"?
A. - The one that is able to produce erratical and/or abnormal ball bounce (= spin reversal).
The LP and Anti frictionless rubbers are the most typical representatives for toxic covering materials.

Be happy.

Take what Igor says with a bucket of salt. He's a known purveyor of fake information.

Anyone got any intel on how these new colours play compared to the traditional red version of the same rubber?

I already know the differences between how red and black rubbers play due to the effect of the dye on the rubber. One of your rubbers has to be black so there won't be any change there. I can conceive however that these new colour dyes may have differing effects on the rubber compared to the red.

I also like the personalisation aspect of it (...mind you I make custom bats, so surprise surprise  ) Personally I really like the look of some of the purple-ish rubbers, but given the prices of the early releases I'm not ready to take the dive just yet, unless it's worth my while in terms of hardness / longevity / performance.

So? Anyone actually tried any of these new colour rubbers in the wild yet? :)

Sponge layer rules the game, not the topsheet.
