PSYHIATRIST's TALKS. Blue is known as a colour indicative of specific mental disorders. Actually, playing the game with those varicoloured fancy rubbers — blue, pink and the suchlike, will help a doctor to diagnose a fancy person having some abnormal mental deviation. What would be useful is to understand the difference in playing characteristics between the different colour rubbers now available. It is generally accepted that Black is softer and spinnier than red, But what about the new colours. Indications are that green rubber is harder than red but what about blue as this is proving quite popular e.g. Joola now make their latest inverted rubbers available in blue.

been wondering why the " necessary" offer of different colors now..... what impact these measures have in the real game .....if the spectator enjoys the game even more- - why not make the table a little longer? ....

Frankly, colors are a distraction for your opponent at best. ITTF has some stupid ideas about making TT better for spectators. I should wear fluorescent pink and yellow armbands to distract the player from seeing the most important thing = the ball. Personally, there is only one thing ITTF should do that it hasn't in regard to colour. Ban the white ball because it is the same colour as the lines, nets, writing on barriers, and the lights above in general. The orange ball contrasts against all of these and seeing something 4cm wide is dam hard at speed.
