Blade: Waldner Allplay
FH: Coppa standard 2mm
BH: MarkV standard 2mm
On a 5ply Donic Waldner Allplay, this is the first rubber I've used that really feels 'right'.
I stepped up from Mark V, first 1.5 for a season and then 1.8. The 0.2mm really made all the difference: the second I played the 2mm Coppa my strokes went foreward rather than upwards, no 'bottom out' effect and, really, when I lose a point all I can blame is myself. EmRatThich and those guys hyping thicker spongeness were right, and I gotta give it to them. It's a great feeling and I've been playing this rubber for a long time now, refreshing it when it really dies within 9 months to a year. It's ended my short but heavy EJ streak from way back when I picked the game up again and I'm glad to focus more on the game than equipment.
Now I'm considering changing it, however, since it does lack spin. Especially with slow, spinny loops and short underspin serves the lack of spin is noticeable.
As far as I know, going up in sponge thickness doesn't increase spin potential, merely speed/gears. I might want an extra gear but more spin, too.
Now the great thing about Coppa is that it's a classic rubber. I love table tennis but I'm not willing to go to a tensor or bother with speed gluing Chinese rubbers. I'd like a comparable, no-nonsense sheet that's a tad faster and can generate more spin while keeping the general properties of being a moderately fast, responsive rubber, roughly as sensitive to incoming spin, geared towards a controlled offensive game.

I'd go with Yasaka Rakza X

Rakza 7 might be a bit safer.

Regarding spin and sponge thickness, you do need a thicker sponge to get maximum spin at the top end (highest impact end), or else the sponge will bottom out and you'll get more speed but not spin.

You could try one of the slow tensors like Xiom Intro which has a classic rubber type feel

Hi,

I´m always in the camp of rakza 7 or 7 soft and Nittaku fastarc G1\p1 or C1.

Good spin potential without too much catapult effect.

Joola Dynaryz ACC is a newer rubber that has nice spin and speed but also very good grip for control.
