I just ordered some Yasaka A-1.2. It has some kind of fabric backing that is supposed to make attaching it easier.

Do any of you have any tips for attaching this rubber or experience I could learn from?

I usually use Tear Mender on both blade and rubber, letting both dry before attaching.

I've glued rubbers with such a backing before, and I just glue it as normal using the same glue I normally use.

Thanks for your reply.

What is the glue you normally use?

Do you apply that glue to both the rubber (actually the cloth backing to the rubber) and the blade?

Do you wait for the glue to dry before applying the rubber to the blade?

Thanks again.

I agree. I just glued some sheets of A-1.2 and used Elmer's Rubber Cement. I glued it just like I do all rubber: apply to rubber and blade, let dry for a couple of minutes, attach rubber, roll out any air bubbles, and press under a stack of books overnight.

Update: When I received the Yasaka A-1.2 rubbers I realized the cloth backing was too thin to give the rubbers the stiffness I had hoped for. They were still quite floppy and the edges still curled naturally and readily towards the middle.

I therefore decided not to use glue - too difficult (because of the flopping and curling) to methodically attach rubber from top to bottom so as to avoid bubbles, creases, etc. - but to use glue sheets instead.

I obtained and used the glue sheets (Nittaku) and the results are perfect. The cloth backing on the rubbers may have helped the cutting results turn out as good as they have.
