Yep, the flat hit is a low % shot unless you have it high enough. When I dropped one on that guy, he would rush in and just kind of lob it up onto the table and retreat because he had so much confidence he could chop your next loop. Alot of these were high enough I think I could have flat hit them.
Most of the points I got when he rushed in was to loop right at him before he could get back far enough.
He got that rating playing in regular tournements with hardbat setup. He says most people just don't know how to play against hardbat or he would not have that hi a rating. I grew up with hardbat for years and it brought back memories. He is the only long distance chopper I have seen for a long time.
Today, I was getting the hang of the flat hit and it is eaiser than I thought it would be. You can ignore all but the strongest spin. :D It is nice to have a willing partner that knows how to feed any shot you want, but that works both ways with us.

Hi Der-,
The Evil is so slow on blocks, I can dump a block in the corner just over the net easy. The Screw Soft was too fast to keep them so short.
I played an old penhold blocker that would block right off the bounce. The faster you hit, the faster it came back. Frustrating trying to get through him. Was like playing a return board. :D

I slapped Dr. Evil on both sides of an ancient Hock hardbat, and oh my, this is a pretty nasty, versatile rubber. It chops very well and can generate a little underspin of its own on serves/chop/pushes. I was able to hit some devastating forehands right off the bounce, flat ones that skimmed low off the table. Unreturnable. I also counterlooped a couple balls; those were less predictable/easy to pull off, but pretty funny knucklers.

I have two blades with Dr Evil on .6 sponge. It seems to be more versital than OX. I will hit again Monday and Tuesday and post what I find. I put the .6 sponge on the blade with a glue sheet and then the Evil on the sponge with another glue sheet. :D

Nice, hookshot. I bet that is pretty similar to my two-handed setup, except maybe your sponges are faster. I put Dr. Evil over the crappy dead yellow sponge on the premade, and it was very slow and dead, but I felt like I couldn't miss. Honestly, I could attack almost every ball with confidence. The slow Dr. Evil gains so much ridiculous control with the added dwell time of the sponge. It isn't too nasty or deceptive, but if you are aggressive it can be a weapon.

An official but preliminary list is here: http://www.ittf.com/ittf_equipment/pdf/List28B.pdf

On this list rubbers that MAY be banned are marked with a cross (ready for the grave, I guess). No such mark with dr.Evil.

Interesting! You may have discovered the basics of a new style: chopper/attacker with two-winged SP... The South-Korean ladies (Kim Kyung Ah, Park Mi Young) are doing a swell job with chopper-attacker style two-winged inverted, but this is new (to me, at any rate). It all seems to come down to a special characteristic of Dr.Evil, viz. to be slow on defense, fast on attack.

From the info I have collected about the Dr Evil, they list it as "semi-anti" since its been treated.

That is incorrect. Dr Evil is not treated. It is an anti-spin rubber formulation poured into a short pip mold.

I was wondering something about this famous dr evil.
To some distributor, it is available with sponge (hard, medium, doft or supersoft).
I find mine Tango Ultra really nice to block and attack but it is very more sensitive than the anti or the LP. Would it be a solution to use a Dr Evil on a sponge? So I would have a anti spin effect with the Dr Evil but also the speed to attack as a short pimple... Am I wrong?

Joola Tango Ultra is about as spinny as pips get. Switching to a less spinny pip like regular 802 or 799 would help a lot.

From what I've heard Dr. Evil on sponge lost most of it's tricky properties. It is cheap though. Other relatively spinless short pips include Andro Logo and Spintech Stealth, both have smooth tops.

Another option is something with very thin (but short) pips like Nittaku Pimplemini or TSP Millital.

Dr Evil OX, is a very good SLOW, REVERSING pip. Great for blocking, and serve return, but lousy at hitting. If you have a Direct line to the table, you can hit. You can hit chop (incomming chop) as it turns into top going out. Hit an incomming loop and it turns to chop going out and will curve UP.
Put .6 sponge under it and it will reverse "a little". You can hit a little better with it. You can chop further from the table. But it loses most of what makes it EVIL. :D
