Table tennis is our national sport, there are many ways to play it,We'll discuss how to play with MP today:that is, taller pips but diameter of pips still remain shorter than the height of the pips. Specialties are that balls sink, and there is little spin on pushes. Because MP are able to decrease spin, consequently they are great at controlling the ball. Recently 729 has produced the 563, which all MP players might want to try and play around with. This new 563 has the advantage that strange ball paths arise when hitting, and the ball sinks noticably. It has good defending properties against loops, at the same time it is the speed of SP, with quick rebound speed. It also has strong spin, and is popular among our [China's] national team! Wang Tao, and Korean female players love this combination of speed and spin and often have it on the backhand.
How to best use MP?
When attacking, hit hard!! Do NOT brush! When defending, brush as much as possible!
The main weapon got MP is attacking, especially at full power. A quick wrist movemetn and sudden attack speed is the key to controlling spin. It also requires the athlete to have solid basics to counter all types of incoming balls. To ensure hitting accuracy, the point of contact is of utmost importance. The ball should be a little further away from the body, contact the ball at its peak, and if you miss this window of attack, you must make adjustments to ensure the ball lands on the table. Continuing a hit past the window of attack would just increase your errors.
The point of contact on the ball is different in different situations. Starting behind the ball and slightly below it, if there is heavy topspin, hit the middle of the ball, but slightly above the center. If the backspin is particularly strong, hit the middle of the ball, but slightly below it. Try your best to hit through the ball to maximise the effect of the pips and to produce sufficient power. Try not to allow the ball to slide on the racket; the trajectory to choose not only should ensure the ball passes the net, but should land deep on the opponent's side. This will give the opponent more trouble as there is less time to react. This reduces the number of times the ball will return in a rally, and thus reduces the error percentage to a minimum.
A special point to note is that because MP do not have the ability to create an arc, ensure that your waist and abdominal region is kept tight to help your arm with directional control, improving accuracy.
When gluing the MP, the pips face outwards, and the height of the pips are close to SP,but it contains more natural rubber thus giving it a softer feel. It is not easy to produce spin with them, but neither is it sensitive to spin. Commonly the ball that results from a MP hit is a sinking no spin ball. The rebound speed is fast, and the user typically punches the ball and borrows power from the opponent.
With the change to the 40mm ball, the variations produced by MP has decreased. MP are rewarding in that they are hard to use, but produces great results. It allows you to control and change the pace of a rally to win points, but at the same time increases your error percentage, especially during serve return and blocking high arc opening loops. Thus it is expected that many errors occur during training at the beginning.
Table tennis is about skill. Especially in the modern era. Like a war, you must consider how to control your opponent on many levels. If there is no long balls [open play], then short balls [over the table] will no longer be short. The reason short balls are effective is because there are long balls to worry about. Thus, when using MP try to increase the times you initiate an attack into open play, as opposed to always keep things short.
The most dangerous effect of MP is sink. Especially when hitting hard. While balls hit lightly will float. Making it uneasy for the opponent. If your opponent feels uncomfortable, he has already lost.
