Forget pool and darts. The latest bar room game set to take London by storm is table tennis.

ha! This reminds me of a club i used to be part of were they had an old fridge with drinks in it, including beer. Some people seemed to get better the more they drank... well... to a point

Hmm.... this would attract more people into our sport! (Only if they're not too drunk to appreciate the game)

I played after a few beers yesterday: ran a fun night hardbat event (hardbat blitz, doubles and singles) so had a few drinks while running the desk. Well, what would homer do!? Anyway, there was a little time left at the end so I had a game against my doubles partner, which is always a tight game and it finished 11-9 to him in the 5th (3-2). I was surprised it didn't impair my play more, actually I'm not sure it did at all, although I wouldn't recommend it for real matches or tournaments!

Strangely enough, in regional tourneys where I visit in between matches with my former club and down a few 330ml cans of the stuff shooting the breeze with the club owner, those tourneys I have progressed the furthest, to the semis. In Sky TTC's tourney last winter, I had a couple between matches and made it ot the finals in Singles. We are a lot looser in Korea about stuff. We have a place to sit awaiting matches. we order chicken, and sometimes get some beer delivered with it, or on a Friday, go to the mart and bring some to teh back smoking room. Those nights, a cold one or two go down real good and you feel great playing.

On many occasions in a social environment I've enjoyed a few beers and table tennis. There is a point when a few more than a few does zap your energy and coordination. At least for me. :worried: :puke:
