I bought a Dignics 09C to see what all the fuss is about... but I can't use it. On super-fine brush loops, or trying to make a fine contact when retrieving the ball, the hard topsheet makes a "snick" noise and the ball falls off. That alone is enough for me not to use it, but if I'm honest, I think I get more spin from my 80FX anyway.

Dunc I was just as disappointed with Dignics 05 after all the hype ,maybe these are made for carbon blades as opposed to wooden def blades

Yeah mate, that's it, I think it's probably just not designed for this kind of blade.

I'm not sure how you can really make a better table tennis rubber than Tenergy if I'm honest, so I probably shouldn't have bought it in the first place!

The price alone will make me never buy those rubbers lol

Yeah they're stupidly expensive. I got 40% off RRP, but even then, more expensive than standard Tenergy off the shelves.

Dunc did I miss it or? When and why the switch to P1R and 1.3

I've used P1-R as long as I can remember. I've occasionally flirted with FLIII and P4, and occasionally tried SP chopping, but I nearly always go back to P1-R.

Thickness-wise... I'm not entirely sure it is 1.3mm :D I think it's whatever the middle offering is, e.g. it isn't 0.5mm and I'm pretty sure it isn't the max sponge.

I use P1-R because no other LP I've tried gets as much backspin on chops.

Oh....I thought you used FL3. It was your sig for a long time until now and I thought it was what you used on your videos before etc

Ah, sorry bud, no. I'd imagine the vast majority of my videos were filmed with P1-R.

FL3 doesn't really add anything to my game. I can BH loop with it quite nicely, but it's a shot that my opponents love because it generates a mediocre level of spin. It can generate backspin on pushes, but not enough that it can stop an opponent from blasting the ball past me. Its backspin from chops is never as high as P1-R either.

Although, actually, I've just noticed we discussed this on one of my videos... and I was using FL3 at that time!

My comment from that video... wrote:
I use FL3 as a crutch because my LP pushing is so bad :(

That explains that. :D

The newer videos on my channel will be with P1-R though, I'm certain of that.

If I had 2 Innershield blades, I'd probably put FL3 on one of them, because it does have a place against certain opponents (e.g. the low spin types).

I've ordered a small tripod for my phone so I can take it with me to matches. Hopefully I'll be able to record a few.

Went up to the club last night... I was pretty terrible, and my idea of "unlocking" my leg really didn't work. It feels quite bad today.

The main thing I learnt from last night is that I need to eat properly before I play... :) A bowl of cornflakes 2 hours before starting meant that I got light-headed very quickly.

Once again I noticed that my forehand rarely uses the "correct" technique, and my defensive game is poor. I'm not going to be too hard on myself though; it's probably not an accurate gauge when I've got no energy and my knee hurts every time I move.

In fact my most successful game last night was actually with my SP bat... Innerforce ZLC, Hurricane 3 Neo (unboosted), Spectol 1.3mm. The lad I was playing against wasn't Premier calibre though so maybe not the best match to judge. I only chopped once, rest of the time I blocked/rolled.

I need to get rid of this Dignics from my LP bat before I start getting tempted back to bloody SPs!

Yeah don't be too hard on yourself (funny coming from me). Once you start getting your feeling back for the game you'll be up and running like usual. Be careful of that knee though!

I'll be coming to you for advice again in the coming future :P

I've spent the afternoon thinking about going back to SPs.... ;(

I hate this game :D
