Starting to play more often lately, and also starting to EJ and collecting blades again after a long hibernation. For those who knew me from years ago, I had acquired a small sum of blades following my starting out playing table tennis. Got them new and used from all over the countries in the world.

Unfortunately, I sold off most of them just before getting married. Playing on and off, bought only 1-2 during the several years of hibernation.

Baby is growing up, sleep much better during the night, and my wife started to let me play regularly again. And now I'm back, gaining momentum in acquiring blades (again).

Not to keen about starting this blog initially. Been thinking about it for a few months, but now decided to go ahead and make one.

Probably is going to be more of posting photos of blades and some rubbers (and other things) instead of me blabbering about. Most likely be the same photos I put up on instagram, and perhaps some others as well that I don't post on instagram.

Well, anyway, I'm starting this and will see how it goes...

For my first post, I'm featuring my pride and joy, my baby girl Mikayla. She's unbelievably was born the same date and month as my birthday (which, coincidentally, also the same as my brother, so we three have the same birthday, date and month).

What I really wanted to post is the short clip here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BHlfQRbjeb- ... rokphishtt but so far the no way to make it embedded here in the post.

Ramble on, Friend.

When you said 1 or 2, didn't you mean one or two 40 ft SHIPPING CONTAINER worth of TT gear?

Ahhh, the pic of your daughter does not come up for me! Instead you'll have to bring her to meet my daughter, and I can see her for real :P (Funny thing is, my daughter has a close friend with same name, but spelled Mikaila).

Anyway good job to start the blog, now you have to keep it up though!

I see your blade pics on FB all the time of course. Any sexier and FB would ban them

PS. Hi Jix, where you been?

Edit: The pic finally came up. Interesting effects!

thanks guys, and haggisv for working on the insta!

here's my latest post on the ig, been using this setup for a week or so...
good stuff

DHS Fang Bo 2, which, closely resembles Hurricane Long 5, albeit with much cheaper price tag.
Hurricane 3 Prov plain (no boost), getting back on the Hurricane 3 wagon, like coming home after a long trip.
Sword Dance Medium Pips, offers enough weirdness while having better attack capabilities than Yinhe Pluto. I use them with HRS 0.8 mm sponge.

Nice. I know what you mean about coming home. Even though I don't use inverted any more, every time I have come back to Hurricane or Skyline, it's like settling into a comfortable chair, and breathing out a big sigh!

This morning at another forum someone posted and mentioned an old blade Butterfly Klampar. I was then reminded that I too, have one.
Mine is a 5 ply allwood, 5mm thickness, 69.68gr weight.
Later found out that mine is an allwood version of Klampar. Apparently there is/was Klampar Tamca Carbon as well.
Watching the video looks like the one he used or older version have weird head shape, something like a jpen head shape blade.

Don't know much about it so did come googling and found these tidbits. Found it quite interesting especially the videos.

KLAMPAR, Tibor (HUN)
Born: 30/04/1953
Born in Budapest in 1953, he started to play table tennis when eight years old directed by his older brother. He was to some extent unpredictable, he tended to achieve in shorter length tournaments as opposed to the longer events. Service from the centre of the table, a backhand top spin then move for a forehand was his trademark, but he will be remembered as a player who discovered the benefit of speed-gluing.

How do u like the fang bo b2, im assuming yours is the one with carbon in it? how do u compare it to hurricane long if you ever tried one? or maybe a more well known blade like viscaria?

It's been awhile since I used HL1. I might dust it off and try for fresher comparison. Tried Viscaria years ago, but fortunately tried it again just a couple of weeks ago. FB2 has more (wood) feel. Long/Viscaria has dead(er) feel to me. I like FB2 a lot. Been using for two weeks or so and liking it more and more.

Here's a shot of comparison between FB2 and HL5.

I'll take another of FB2 vs HL and also FB2 vs Viscaria, HL vs Viscaria for you tomorrow.

Fang Bo 2 vs Hurricane Long 5 posted earlier.

Here's the gang for today's shot:

Hurricane Long is fastest, could be due to the weight, hard to get them below 90. Viscaria and FB2 felt about the same, at times I feel FB2 slightly faster.

I could recommend FB2 ahead of Viscaria due to: better feel, range of weight easier to find (I've seen 86 to 92 gr), cheaper price.

However, if you dislike small handle, stay away! You've been warned.

Viscaria handle is bigger even though the head thickness is the same. Just because they catered more toward international market I supposed.

Sometimes I wonder why DHS makes so small handles. I'm Asian, have average Asian hands, which is, not too big. Even I find DHS handles too small.
