So you really are talking to yourself. Or is this blog merely a thinly veiled excuse for various non-table tennis-related obsessions?

Not trying to be snarky or anything. I myself digress in my blog occasionally, but have started a separate thread in the lounge to protect the guilty. :)

i actually did change a pimple and im doing well.
i had an old sheet of raystorm that is good for flat hitting.this had no spin though.
ive now put on a fresh sheet thats great for chopping and gives more spin.
nearly at end of season and very pleased.and now for some yoga

Tried a sheet of 1.2 best anti on defplay.didnt like it as it was popping up on passive blocks.
i tried it on a stiff butterfly powerdefence blade and it played fine-no pop ups and decent for chops.that set up is a little too fast for me though.
so i suppose soft and hard blades make a hell of a difference.
practiced anti- f/h stop blocks-i think i invented that-works pretty well.
almost at end of season and i will recap the results in the next few weeks
ive had some decent wins and im pleased.
tried dtecs ox again-popping up like hell-may need stiff blade-could chop on f/h with it ........................

802-40 is definitely easier to learn to use coming from inverted (Raystorm is even easier), but it will slow your acquisition of optimal short pips technique (because you can get away with sort of a hybrid stroke with a lot of inverted characteristics). So as soon as you can (once you feel comfortable with a lot of SP shots) you probably need move from 802-40 to something like Spectol or one of the Flarestorms, or rubbers in that category. Those will force you into a way of hitting the ball that is more optimal tactically for SP players. One difference is that 802-40 pips and topsheet are a little softer and just a bit more adhesive.
^^^^^i found that on the net-pretty interesting^^^^^^^^^
Div 1 (d) now finished average 57%

tried blowfish and np8 briefly-not really for me -still experimenting but pretty happy with the defplay antiraystorm combo.

Im captain of the first team this year in the summer league div 1(there are 5 divisions)(no one else can be arsed :D )
ive tried some stuff but im staying with the best anti /raystorm comb.
i have raystorm in 1.7 1.9 and max.i have best anti in red and black max.
not sure exactly on what thickness to use yet but at the moment im playing with my red anti and a fresh sheet of 1.7 raystorm.
the 1.7 gives more control on the f/h b/h chops .
i am trying the various thicknesses on my 3 donic defplay blades.
if i like a blade i usually get 3 of the same so i can try out different rubbers.
in the past i have have had 3 butterfly grubba pros and 3 butterfly Andrzej Grubba blades.
all of my defplays are cut down.i also cut down the grubba pros.............................................

Our team has managed to stay up in div 1 .
i only played 12 games and won 4 .
i played fine and learnt a lot.
i am still using the same set up
donic defplay(cut down)
best anti red (thick)
raystorm 1.9.
im trying to keep my f/h more compact and tucked in .like playing with a tennis ball under my armpit.
i will be messing around a little as ive a month before the winter season starts.
ive bought some armstron anti and intend to try it on my f/h .

S league(div 1)56%
d league(div 1)79%
n league(div 1)79%
Ive been forced to change my game in order to boost the averages.
blade is a little faster and i chop a lot more with the anti.cant really block at the table with this blade.
f/h is also better on this blade as it flexible.
Ive some things to try but happyish at the moment.

20th
tried vkm defence blade with normal rubbers-didnt like
tried grubba pro-lil fast with anti
placed a sheet of 1.9 raystorm on match blade-feels better.
16th jan-went back to 1.7 rays on f/h-phil who i was playing said it was slower than the 1.9.
i was getting a lot more on and it felt good

sep 2021
vintage flex blade broke but managed to fix with tape etc.
changed to fresh anti sheet seems to chop better.ordered new 1.7 raystorm as f/h seems terrible at the moment....
