Yeah, exactly. I would definitely incorporate it into your training - you serve, opponent pushes to your FH, you spin it up, opponent blocks and you flat-hit-kill. It's a really common passage of play for SP players, and a thoroughly enjoyable one.

I 'think' but not sure (tell me if you see it too) I see that my bat angle is not open 90° like Falck for the hit vs top spin. I have the same follow-through but not starting angle. I've tried to slow it down 0.25 but I think it's still not the same. I also start slightly below the ball whereas his bat looks to be on the same lvl. It's difficult to tell because of angles etc

I have limited experience of SPs on FH but I would typically find my bat angle very "vertical" (e.g. | instead of /) for a lot of shots. Against backspin, if I tried to angle like /, the ball would often drop off. When flat-hitting, similar thing, you almost want it as vertical as possible to get that solid flat hit off the pips.

When I say vertical, I don't literally mean completely straight. If straight up is 90 deg, I'd often find myself blocking with inverted at like 40 degrees. With SPs, I'm talking like 60-80 degree angles I guess.

Different to the BH, where you'd typically still see a ~45deg angle on the punch.

Yh for my FH if | is 90° which it looks like Falck is doing or like 85. Mine is more like 75/80.

There is a queue I figured out very late in the session yesterday which seemed to work but I'll pin point it all on Sunday. I was thinking to fully adopt my BH orientated grip which automatically has a more open FH angle but it feels really weird to push like that.
Regardless I'm very excited to try it all. Must admit I'm loving it a lot more than I thought I would. I enjoyed the Mark V a lot but the SPs I seem to love

I've had a bit of a bad couple of sessions due to being very over tired, bad sleeping and not being able to nap during the day when little one naps for almost a week due to visiting people / visitors. Ends up in me getting very fatigued quickly and losing my vision a bit, blurry and extra sensitive to the lights etc. Also been losing my motivation recently which is again likely due to being over tired and feeling down about stuff.

Anyway negative stuff out the way, I've had conflicting advice and when I try to turn to youtube to watch techniques etc it's also conflicting....today's session in the end I said F it and just play and don't think.

Giving up on Rakza PO for FH not because it's bad but because somehow the Moristo was better lol. So I'll just turn bat around and play like that for at least another 2-3 months unless some sale pops up for another Moristo. If it all works out nicely then fantastic otherwise I'll go back to Mark V FH.

Here is a small video from today. I wanted to get a lot more but my eyesight went and I played terrible so switched camera off. I had a rest, played later still not 100% but good enough to play matches vs Simon who was in a couple of previous videos, one with Mark V and that was when I said F it and didn't think about anything. That's when I tried both rubbers on FH for about 30mins each.

Smells like burnout...!!!

Don't "ride it out". Take a break. Go back when you feel rested.

Bloody children eh

Haha yeah a lot of people can probably relate. My little one has my sleeping habits unfortunately since birth haha so I lack sleep every day until it gets to a point like this. Then I sleep on the couch for a night or 2 to recover slightly.

A break won't do me any good, it will make me go crazy  but I will take a break from thinking too much, worrying about improving etc

Yeah, OK, fair enough - that's a good idea. Just go have fun. Perhaps take a break from drills, just do some matchplay stuff and think about feel/touch etc?

I carry a number of bats with me. If I'm feeling jaded, I'll usually pick out a double inverted bat and go play as a retriever or two-winged looper, or take out my SP/inv penhold bat and try to imitate Tin-Tin Ho etc. That's a great way to have fun without worrying about how good you are how you need to improve.

I didn't do to bad in the match play vs Simon at the end though, with the Moristo on the FH I actually hit some proper clangers for once, you would have been proud Dunc

Unfortunately I cannot avoid the training as I agreed to train with the Preston band 3 women's winner Juliette ages ago. But I'll do it without thinking about technique etc, just hit and adjust on the fly without realising it. I was going to film our match at the very end, hopefully I don't fatigue again, session is only 2hrs on Sunday though so should be alright, maybe I'll bring some coke or something

Well there goes another dilemma to think about. TT11 black Friday selling Moristo SP for just 22 euros. That's way to good a bargain to miss out on....the question is how crazy do I go with it..... :?:

Do I just get a black sheet to swap out Rakza PO....and even then do I carry on with 1.8 or do I try the 2.0
Or do I go ahead and get a red sheet too for the other blade to mix with Mark V.....or do I get ANOTHER black sheet to go double moristo again and try 1.8 vs 2.0.

Or even just get them for spares.....I sold a bat so have some money to spend lol

Today I had another opportunity to train with Juliette who won the Preston band 3 women's and came 3rd in band 2. She also played the County match yesterday for middlesex and won both her games. She was top 5 junior in her region in France and ranked top 300 women's.

She is super consistent and moves so well and in the last 30mins we done match play and my gosh, any non fast shot to her FH just gets slapped to oblivion past me

The last time I had long pips on BH which leveled the playing field slightly due to her not having much exposure to OX. But I had a lot of fun and got to experience her monstrous FH lol.

I learnt that Rakza PO (likely lost booster effect) is horrible for BH. Moristo was working well for me, still struggling to hit really hard shots that don't come up to to high. But it feels great for blocking and counter hitting.

But I learnt a very important lesson today, took me this long to realise it and put it into words. It wasn't the LPs on BH that I didn't enjoy....it was playing close to table. Even playing now, I have more options and the BH punching feels nice, but I still don't quite get the buzz of the mid distance play. But regardless I'm happy I'm trying SPs and I will continue to do so till February. That's when I will decide for BH if I stay SPs or go back to LPs (anti spin in the mix too MAYBE). And by then I should know what I want for FH too.

If you don't like playing close to the table, I'm not sure anti is for you!

I didn't bring the tripod. I'm not looking to record anything till I feel more confident with the setup atm, and also when I feel 100% when playing. But I'll see her again January and I'll definitely record then.

Yh the close to table thing I think I just needed to acknowledge it so I can accept it and move past it. So I can deal with it and start to enjoy it as it is now. Coz I'm not moving to mid distance again, my knee feels so good now no more little nagging pains here and there.

I'm sure whatever I decide come February I'll be happy and enjoy TT like before again.

So today I really really enjoyed my session again not because of anything in particular, in fact I could only play 1.5hrs today but I was having a lot of fun.

After thinking about it so much I think what happened before was going from mid distance and enjoying TT to being forced inside 1m which I don't enjoy with BH or FH tbh I thought it was the LPs. Turns out I was wrong. And I've accepted it and enjoying TT again. Which also got me to do a lot of thinking.....and watching.....

I got out my Dtecs again, copied Manika Batra technique as much as I could and well.....I had a lot of fun  I played mostly with the SPs bat and had a lot of fun on that too though.
But I did want to give SPs a proper go on FH till Feb so that's exactly what I'm going to do. I'll stick a sheet on the FH and go from there. Was interesting to play with the G1 again though, it was so sensitive and fast to incoming spin.
