I like a low throw on the f/h aswell and have used mark v in the past.its pretty good and has great control.
im trying dr n explosion tonight as i was blown away with a quick test the other day on both the b/h and f/h :Chop:

Saturday I will get to play Semi again. Let's go for gold! Lol
Yh the Mark V feels good. It does make me curious if I could make SPs on FH work well too.

Oooooh when you said explosion I didn't realise you meant a rubber haha didn't know that was a thing. Is it new? Yh let us know how that goes, what kind of SP is it then?

Only got through 9mins of this but very interesting so far. She takes the ball so early but the most interesting thing is when she starts doing her drill her foot placement is right foot forward even on her FH

How hard does the Chinese lass hit her forehand loops, jesus christ :whew:

I wouldn't recommend Mima's footwork for the forehand. She's probably doing it to be as quick as possible, but if you look at how much "swing" she gets on her forehand, it's very little. You wouldn't be able to lift backspin with that technique, and I suspect most of the speed on her forehand has actually been generated by her opponent's incoming shot.

Don't think I could mimic her even if I tried lol
It's quite incredible watching them train though.

On Wednesday I had top 10 players training next to me, the guy that lost in the final of the recent grand prix. They just don't miss

Yeah, it's a few levels above isn't it... :) My coach Graeme lost deuce in the 5th end of the semi-finals of the Restricted event at Preston.

Oh yes, they make it look so easy. Apart from the world Cup held in London some years back the best I watched really close up was Aida Satoshi and his team in the British league prem. Absolutely amazing seeing them at the table, I sat right by the barriers

Nice one thanks for that. She made it look easy except I didn't see her FH loop vs backspin in the match play much. They also edit it so only she wins points. I think I would need to study her game but I need more of it and full matches. Nvm

I tried tonight my 802-40 bat and gotta say, I didn't like it lol. I don't think my FH technique is suited for SPs. Not to say it isn't achievable but it definitely would need 100% commitment and time to get used to. I'll continue to play with Mark V and perhaps try again in the future the 2x SPs. Also really didn't like both those 802-40 rubbers compared to moristo. Moristo is faster, reacts less to spin and just feels more linear.

Tonight was a strange session, I have conflicting feelings haha. I played 3 people today. Played 2 best of 3s with Semi and I actually won the first. Both very close down to duece. But then I lost to the div2 penholder for the first time and it wasn't close. And then had a close game with the other div2 player but I won.

Few things to note. 1, My service receive can be god awful at times its so so bad. Against Semi I must have lost 3-4 points per game (although he is known for having very deceiving serves). 2, my consistency is so bipolar. 3, need to be more confident to really punch the ball with forearm and wrist as when I did it was really fast and won me the point a lot

Overall learnt a lot today so I'm happy. But I really don't want to mess around with equipment for a long while. Might not even bring any other bat with me as I think I would be tempted to try the double SPs bat again :headbang:

Oh gosh what have I done....
After carefully watching videos of short pip users (in slomo too) and reading briefly a very very good post by Kees I realise my FH technique needed to be changed in order for it to work. Especially watching Jean Paul Montanus in slomo I realised I was also trying to do way too much.

I just couldn't help myself and after just a few mins talking with my knock up partner I got the bat out and decided I'll use it for the whole session (clipper, 802-40 bat). I knew full well that I would be playing quite a few opponents 2 of which brand new and never seen them play and 1 other guy who I've only played twice before as well as couple of regulars. During the knock up I noticed right away the difference and the FH actually worked although I still struggled to be consistent with the balls I am supposed to whack.

So first thing I'll just say that all 4 opponents were div2 players ranging from 30-75%. I won all matches and none of them were too close. 3-1 against all except 1 which was 3-0 (couple of sets fairly close though). I didn't go too big with my shots as it was very 50 50 so I stuck to a very controlled game similar to JP Montanus except not so powerful with FH. I realised watching him that he will very rarely try to loop or flick backspin unless it's very long or of course high. So I tried just that, well most of the time lol. And when in position for a strong counter hit I'll admit I held back due to missing too much but even not full power I am able to place them well with decent speed forcing opponents to decide quicker often winning point or putting me in drivers seat.

It was a lot of fun and I can see the potential. It would also be EVEN nicer on my knees tbh. I've realised though that against some shots I really need to hit hard otherwise it goes in the net, so there is definitely less margin for error at times but then vs good topspin for active blocks and counters it feels much easier to place the ball with consistency and pace forcing opponents to react quicker. I would have so much to learn though, I can imagine how long  and patience too. I would definitely need to look to this forum for basically complete guidance along with videos for people to critique.

Oh for all people wondering who JP Montanus is and his style

His games are at 4:25. 24:00 and 36:25
He uses Rakza PO Max FH and Speedy soft dtecs 2.0 BH. I'm not sure his blade but it's a carbon blade. (Edit) Butterfly Primorac Carbon is his blade

I like to watch him in these games because he plays vs people who use more common equipment.

He is probably the person I would try to emulate if I used short pips both sides
